Surah As-Saffat

Waalssaffati saffan

قطار در قطار صف باندھنے والوں کی قسم

By those [angels] lined up in rows

Faalzzajirati zajran

پھر اُن کی قسم جو ڈانٹنے پھٹکارنے والے ہیں

And those who drive [the clouds]

Faalttaliyati thikran

پھر اُن کی قسم جو کلام نصیحت سنانے والے ہیں

And those who recite the message

Inna ilahakum lawahidun

تمہارا معبود حقیقی بس ایک ہی ہے

Indeed, your God is One

Rabbu alssamawati waalardi wama baynahuma warabbu almashariqi

وہ جو زمین اور آسمانوں کا اور تمام اُن چیزوں کا مالک ہے جو زمین و آسمان میں ہیں، اور سارے مشرقوں کا مالک

Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them and Lord of the sunrises

Inna zayyanna alssamaa alddunya bizeenatin alkawakibi

ہم نے آسمان دنیا کو تاروں کی زینت سے آراستہ کیا ہے

Indeed, We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment of stars

Wahifthan min kulli shaytanin maridin

اور ہر شیطان سرکش سے اس کو محفوظ کر دیا ہے

And as protection against every rebellious devil

La yassammaAAoona ila almalai alaAAla wayuqthafoona min kulli janibin

یہ شیاطین ملاء اعلیٰ کی باتیں نہیں سن سکتے، ہر طرف سے مارے اور ہانکے جاتے ہیں

[So] they may not listen to the exalted assembly [of angels] and are pelted from every side

Duhooran walahum AAathabun wasibun

اور ان کے لیے پیہم عذاب ہے

Repelled; and for them is a constant punishment

Illa man khatifa alkhatfata faatbaAAahu shihabun thaqibun

تاہم اگر کوئی ان میں سے کچھ لے اڑے تو ایک تیز شعلہ اس کا پیچھا کرتا ہے

Except one who snatches [some words] by theft, but they are pursued by a burning flame, piercing [in brightness]

Faistaftihim ahum ashaddu khalqan am man khalaqna inna khalaqnahum min teenin lazibin

اب اِن سے پوچھو، اِن کی پیدائش زیادہ مشکل ہے یا اُن چیزوں کی جو ہم نے پیدا کر رکھی ہیں؟ اِن کو تو ہم نے لیس دار گارے سے پیدا کیا ہے

Then inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Are they a stronger [or more difficult] creation or those [others] We have created?" Indeed, We created men from sticky clay

Bal AAajibta wayaskharoona

تم (اللہ کی قدرت کے کرشموں پر) حیران ہو اور یہ اس کا مذاق اڑا رہے ہیں

But you wonder, while they mock

Waitha thukkiroo la yathkuroona

سمجھایا جاتا ہے تو سمجھ کر نہیں دیتے

And when they are reminded, they remember not

Waitha raaw ayatan yastaskhiroona

کوئی نشانی دیکھتے ہیں تو اسے ٹھٹھوں میں اڑاتے ہیں

And when they see a sign, they ridicule

Waqaloo in hatha illa sihrun mubeenun

اور کہتے ہیں "یہ تو صریح جادو ہے

And say, "This is not but obvious magic

Aitha mitna wakunna turaban waAAithaman ainna lamabAAoothoona

بھلا کہیں ایسا ہو سکتا ہے کہ جب ہم مر چکے ہوں اور مٹی بن جائیں اور ہڈیوں کا پنجر رہ جائیں اُس وقت ہم پھر زندہ کر کے اٹھا کھڑے کیے جائیں؟

When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected

Awaabaona alawwaloona

اور کیا ہمارے اگلے وقتوں کے آبا و اجداد بھی اٹھائے جائیں گے؟

And our forefathers [as well]

Qul naAAam waantum dakhiroona

اِن سے کہو ہاں، اور تم (خدا کے مقابلے میں) بے بس ہو

Say, "Yes, and you will be [rendered] contemptible

Fainnama hiya zajratun wahidatun faitha hum yanthuroona

بس ایک ہی جھڑکی ہو گی اور یکایک یہ اپنی آنکھوں سے (وہ سب کچھ جس کی خبر دی جا رہی ہے) دیکھ رہے ہوں گے

It will be only one shout, and at once they will be observing

Waqaloo ya waylana hatha yawmu alddeeni

اُس وقت یہ کہیں گے "ہائے ہماری کم بختی، یہ تو یوم الجزا ہے

They will say, "O woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense

Hatha yawmu alfasli allathee kuntum bihi tukaththiboona

یہ وہی فیصلے کا دن ہے جسے تم جھٹلایا کرتے تھے

[They will be told], "This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny

Ohshuroo allatheena thalamoo waazwajahum wama kanoo yaAAbudoona

(حکم ہو گا) گھیر لاؤ سب ظالموں اور ان کے ساتھیوں اور اُن معبودوں کو جن کی وہ خدا کو چھوڑ کر بندگی کیا کرتے تھے

[The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship

Min dooni Allahi faihdoohum ila sirati aljaheemi

پھر ان سب کو جہنم کا راستہ دکھاؤ

Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire

Waqifoohum innahum masooloona

اور ذرا اِنہیں ٹھیراؤ، اِن سے کچھ پوچھنا ہے

And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned

Ma lakum la tanasaroona

کیا ہو گیا تمہیں، اب کیوں ایک دوسرے کی مدد نہیں کرتے؟

[They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other

Bal humu alyawma mustaslimoona

ارے، آج تو یہ اپنے آپ کو (اور ایک دوسرے کو) حوالے کیے دے رہے ہیں

But they, that Day, are in surrender

Waaqbala baAAduhum AAala baAAdin yatasaaloona

اس کے بعد یہ ایک دوسرے کی طرف مڑیں گے اور باہم تکرار شروع کر دیں گے

And they will approach one another blaming each other

Qaloo innakum kuntum tatoonana AAani alyameeni

(پیروی کرنے والے اپنے پیشواؤں سے) کہیں گے، "تم ہمارے پاس سیدھے رخ سے آتے تھے

They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right

Qaloo bal lam takoonoo mumineena

وہ جواب دیں گے، "نہیں بلکہ تم خود ایمان لانے والے نہ تھے

The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers

Wama kana lana AAalaykum min sultanin bal kuntum qawman tagheena

ہمارا تم پر کوئی زور نہ تھا، تم خود ہی سرکش لوگ تھے

And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people

Fahaqqa AAalayna qawlu rabbina inna lathaiqoona

آخرکار ہم اپنے رب کے اِس فرمان کے مستحق ہو گئے کہ ہم عذاب کا مزا چکھنے والے ہیں

So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]

Faaghwaynakum inna kunna ghaweena

سو ہم نے تم کو بہکا یا، ہم خود بہکے ہوئے تھے

And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators

Fainnahum yawmaithin fee alAAathabi mushtarikoona

اِس طرح وہ سب اُس روز عذاب میں مشترک ہوں گے

So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment

Inna kathalika nafAAalu bialmujrimeena

ہم مجرموں کے ساتھ یہی کچھ کیا کرتے ہیں

Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals

Innahum kanoo itha qeela lahum la ilaha illa Allahu yastakbiroona

یہ وہ لوگ تھے کہ جب ان سے کہا جاتا "اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود بر حق نہیں ہے" تو یہ گھمنڈ میں آ جاتے تھے

Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant

Wayaqooloona ainna latarikoo alihatina lishaAAirin majnoonin

اور کہتے تھے "کیا ہم ایک شاعر مجنون کی خاطر اپنے معبودوں کو چھوڑ دیں؟

And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet

Bal jaa bialhaqqi wasaddaqa almursaleena

حالانکہ وہ حق لے کر آیا تھا اور اس نے رسولوں کی تصدیق کی تھی

Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers

Innakum lathaiqoo alAAathabi alaleemi

(اب ان سے کہا جائے گا کہ) تم لازماً دردناک سزا کا مزا چکھنے والے ہو

Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment

Wama tujzawna illa ma kuntum taAAmaloona

اور تمہیں جو بدلہ بھی دیا جا رہا ہے اُنہی اعمال کا دیا جا رہا ہے جو تم کرتے رہے ہو

And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do

Illa AAibada Allahi almukhlaseena

مگر اللہ کے چیدہ بندے (اس انجام بد سے) محفوظ ہوں گے

But not the chosen servants of Allah

Olaika lahum rizqun maAAloomun

ان کے لیے جانا بوجھا رزق ہے

Those will have a provision determined

Fawakihu wahum mukramoona

ہر طرح کی لذیذ چیزیں،

Fruits; and they will be honored

Fee jannati alnnaAAeemi

اور نعمت بھری جنتیں

In gardens of pleasure

AAala sururin mutaqabileena

جن میں وہ عزت کے ساتھ رکھے جائیں گے تختوں پر آمنے سامنے بیٹھیں گے

On thrones facing one another

Yutafu AAalayhim bikasin min maAAeenin

شراب کے چشموں سے ساغر بھر بھر کر ان کے درمیان پھرائے جائیں گے

There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring

Baydaa laththatin lilshsharibeena

چمکتی ہوئی شراب، جو پینے والوں کے لیے لذّت ہو گی

White and delicious to the drinkers

La feeha ghawlun wala hum AAanha yunzafoona

نہ ان کے جسم کو اس سے کوئی ضرر ہوگا اور نہ ان کی عقل اس سے خراب ہو گی

No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated

WaAAindahum qasiratu alttarfi AAeenun

اور ان کے پاس نگاہیں بچانے والی، خوبصورت آنکھوں والی عورتیں ہوں گی

And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes

Kaannahunna baydun maknoonun

ایسی نازک جیسے انڈے کے چھلکے کے نیچے چھپی ہوئی جھلی

As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected

Faaqbala baAAduhum AAala baAAdin yatasaaloona

پھر وہ ایک دوسرے کی طرف متوجہ ہو کر حالات پوچھیں گے

And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other

Qala qailun minhum innee kana lee qareenun

ان میں سے ایک کہے گا، "دنیا میں میرا ایک ہم نشین تھا

A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth]

Yaqoolu ainnaka lamina almusaddiqeena

جو مجھ سے کہا کرتا تھا، کیا تم بھی تصدیق کرنے والوں میں سے ہو؟

Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe

Aitha mitna wakunna turaban waAAithaman ainna lamadeenoona

کیا واقعی جب ہم مر چکے ہوں گے اور مٹی ہو جائیں گے اور ہڈیوں کا پنجر بن کر رہ جائیں گے تو ہمیں جزا و سزا دی جائے گی؟

That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed

Qala hal antum muttaliAAoona

اب کیا آپ لوگ دیکھنا چاہتے ہیں کہ وہ صاحب اب کہاں ہیں؟

He will say, "Would you [care to] look

FaittalaAAa faraahu fee sawai aljaheemi

یہ کہہ کر جونہی وہ جھکے گا تو جہنم کی گہرائی میں اس کو دیکھ لے گا

And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire

Qala taAllahi in kidta laturdeeni

اور اس سے خطاب کر کے کہے گا "خدا کی قسم، تُو تو مجھے تباہ ہی کر دینے والا تھا

He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me

Walawla niAAmatu rabbee lakuntu mina almuhdareena

میرے رب کا فضل شامل حال نہ ہوتا تو آج میں بھی اُن لوگوں میں سے ہوتا جو پکڑے ہوئے آئے ہیں

If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]

Afama nahnu bimayyiteena

اچھا تو کیا اب ہم مرنے والے نہیں ہیں؟

Then, are we not to die

Illa mawtatana aloola wama nahnu bimuAAaththabeena

موت جو ہمیں آنی تھی وہ بس پہلے آ چکی؟ اب ہمیں کوئی عذاب نہیں ہونا؟

Except for our first death, and we will not be punished

Inna hatha lahuwa alfawzu alAAatheemu

یقیناً یہی عظیم الشان کامیابی ہے

Indeed, this is the great attainment

Limithli hatha falyaAAmali alAAamiloona

ایسی ہی کامیابی کے لیے عمل کرنے والوں کو عمل کرنا چاہیے

For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work

Athalika khayrun nuzulan am shajaratu alzzaqqoomi

بولو، یہ ضیافت اچھی ہے یا زقوم کا درخت؟

Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum

Inna jaAAalnaha fitnatan lilththalimeena

ہم نے اُس درخت کو ظالموں کے لیے فتنہ بنا دیا ہے

Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers

Innaha shajaratun takhruju fee asli aljaheemi

وہ ایک درخت ہے جو جہنم کی تہ سے نکلتا ہے

Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire

TalAAuha kaannahu ruoosu alshshayateeni

اُس کے شگوفے ایسے ہیں جیسے شیطانوں کے سر

Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils

Fainnahum laakiloona minha famalioona minha albutoona

جہنم کے لوگ اُسے کھائیں گے اور اسی سے پیٹ بھریں گے

And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies

Thumma inna lahum AAalayha lashawban min hameemin

پھر اس پر پینے کے لیے کھولتا ہوا پانی ملے گا

Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water

Thumma inna marjiAAahum laila aljaheemi

اور اس کے بعد ان کی واپسی اُسی آتش دوزخ کی طرف ہو گی

Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire

Innahum alfaw abaahum dalleena

یہ وہ لوگ ہیں جنہوں نے اپنے باپ دادا کو گمراہ پایا

Indeed they found their fathers astray

Fahum AAala atharihim yuhraAAoona

اور انہی کے نقش قدم پر دوڑ چلے

So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps

Walaqad dalla qablahum aktharu alawwaleena

حالانکہ ان سے پہلے بہت سے لوگ گمراہ ہو چکے تھے

And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples

Walaqad arsalna feehim munthireena

اور اُن میں ہم نے تنبیہ کرنے والے رسول بھیجے تھے

And We had already sent among them warners

Faonthur kayfa kana AAaqibatu almunthareena

اب دیکھ لو کہ اُن تنبیہ کیے جانے والوں کا کیا انجام ہوا

Then look how was the end of those who were warned

Illa AAibada Allahi almukhlaseena

اس بد انجامی سے بس اللہ کے وہی بندے بچے ہیں جنہیں اس نے اپنے لیے خالص کر لیا ہے

But not the chosen servants of Allah

Walaqad nadana noohun falaniAAma almujeeboona

ہم کو (اِس سے پہلے) نوحؑ نے پکارا تھا، تو دیکھو کہ ہم کیسے اچھے جواب دینے والے تھے

And Noah had certainly called Us, and [We are] the best of responders

Wanajjaynahu waahlahu mina alkarbi alAAatheemi

ہم نے اُس کو اور اس کے گھر والوں کو کرب عظیم سے بچا لیا

And We saved him and his family from the great affliction

WajaAAalna thurriyyatahu humu albaqeena

اور اسی کی نسل کو باقی رکھا

And We made his descendants those remaining [on the earth]

Watarakna AAalayhi fee alakhireena

اور بعد کی نسلوں میں اس کی تعریف و توصیف چھوڑ دی

And left for him [favorable mention] among later generations

Salamun AAala noohin fee alAAalameena

سلام ہے نوحؑ پر تمام دنیا والوں میں

Peace upon Noah among the worlds

Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineena

ہم نیکی کرنے والوں کو ایسی ہی جزا دیا کرتے ہیں

Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good

Innahu min AAibadina almumineena

در حقیقت وہ ہمارے مومن بندوں میں سے تھا

Indeed, he was of Our believing servants

Thumma aghraqna alakhareena

پھر دوسرے گروہ کو ہم نے غرق کر دیا

Then We drowned the disbelievers

Wainna min sheeAAatihi laibraheema

اور نوحؑ ہی کے طریقے پر چلنے والا ابراہیمؑ تھا

And indeed, among his kind was Abraham

Ith jaa rabbahu biqalbin saleemin

جب وہ اپنے رب کے حضور قلب سلیم لے کر آیا

When he came to his Lord with a sound heart

Ith qala liabeehi waqawmihi matha taAAbudoona

جب اُس نے اپنے باپ اور اپنی قوم سے کہا "یہ کیا چیزیں ہیں جن کی تم عبادت کر رہے ہو؟

[And] when he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship

Aifkan alihatan doona Allahi tureedoona

کیا اللہ کو چھوڑ کر جھوٹ گھڑے ہوئے معبود چاہتے ہو؟

Is it falsehood [as] gods other than Allah you desire

Fama thannukum birabbi alAAalameena

آخر اللہ ربّ العالمین کے بارے میں تمہارا کیا گمان ہے؟

Then what is your thought about the Lord of the worlds

Fanathara nathratan fee alnnujoomi

پھر اس نے تاروں پر ایک نگاہ ڈالی

And he cast a look at the stars

Faqala innee saqeemun

اور کہا میری طبیعت خراب ہے

And said, "Indeed, I am [about to be] ill

Fatawallaw AAanhu mudbireena

چنانچہ وہ لوگ اسے چھوڑ کر چلے گئے

So they turned away from him, departing

Faragha ila alihatihim faqala ala takuloona

اُن کے پیچھے وہ چپکے سے اُن کے معبودوں کے مندر میں گھس گیا اور بولا " آپ لوگ کھاتے کیوں نہیں ہیں؟

Then he turned to their gods and said, "Do you not eat

Ma lakum la tantiqoona

کیا ہو گیا، آپ لوگ بولتے بھی نہیں؟

What is [wrong] with you that you do not speak

Faragha AAalayhim darban bialyameeni

اس کے بعد وہ اُن پر پل پڑا اور سیدھے ہاتھ سے خوب ضربیں لگائیں

And he turned upon them a blow with [his] right hand

Faaqbaloo ilayhi yaziffoona

(واپس آ کر) وہ لوگ بھاگے بھاگے اس کے پاس آئے

Then the people came toward him, hastening

Qala ataAAbudoona ma tanhitoona

اس نے کہا "کیا تم اپنی ہی تراشی ہوئی چیزوں کو پوجتے ہو؟

He said, "Do you worship that which you [yourselves] carve

WaAllahu khalaqakum wama taAAmaloona

حالانکہ اللہ ہی نے تم کو بھی پیدا کیا ہے اور اُن چیزوں کو بھی جنہیں تم بناتے ہو

While Allah created you and that which you do

Qaloo ibnoo lahu bunyanan faalqoohu fee aljaheemi

انہوں نے آپس میں کہا "اس کے لیے ایک الاؤ تیار کرو اور اسے دہکتی ہوئی آگ کے ڈھیر میں پھینک دو

They said, "Construct for him a furnace and throw him into the burning fire

Faaradoo bihi kaydan fajaAAalnahumu alasfaleena

انہوں نے اس کے خلاف ایک کاروائی کرنی چاہی تھی، مگر ہم نے انہی کو نیچا دکھا دیا

And they intended for him a plan, but We made them the most debased

Waqala innee thahibun ila rabbee sayahdeeni

ابراہیمؑ نے کہا "میں اپنے رب کی طرف جاتا ہوں، وہی میری رہنمائی کرے گا

And [then] he said, "Indeed, I will go to [where I am ordered by] my Lord; He will guide me

Rabbi hab lee mina alssaliheena

اے پروردگار، مجھے ایک بیٹا عطا کر جو صالحوں میں سے ہو

My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous

Fabashsharnahu bighulamin haleemin

(اس دعا کے جواب میں) ہم نے اس کو ایک حلیم (بردبار) لڑکے کی بشارت دی

So We gave him good tidings of a forbearing boy

Falamma balagha maAAahu alssaAAya qala ya bunayya innee ara fee almanami annee athbahuka faonthur matha tara qala ya abati ifAAal ma tumaru satajidunee in shaa Allahu mina alssabireena

وہ لڑکا جب اس کے ساتھ دوڑ دھوپ کرنے کی عمر کو پہنچ گیا تو (ایک روز) ابراہیمؑ نے اس سے کہا، "بیٹا، میں خواب میں دیکھتا ہوں کہ میں تجھے ذبح کر رہا ہوں، اب تو بتا، تیرا کیا خیال ہے؟" اُس نے کہا، "ابا جان، جو کچھ آپ کو حکم دیا جا رہا ہے اسے کر ڈالیے، آپ انشاءاللہ مجھے صابروں میں سے پائیں گے

And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, "O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think." He said, "O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, of the steadfast

Falamma aslama watallahu liljabeeni

آخر کو جب اِن دونوں نے سر تسلیم خم کر دیا اور ابراہیمؑ نے بیٹے کو ماتھے کے بل گرا دیا

And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead

Wanadaynahu an ya ibraheemu

اور ہم نے ندا دی کہ "اے ابراہیمؑ

We called to him, "O Abraham

Qad saddaqta alrruya inna kathalika najzee almuhsineena

تو نے خواب سچ کر دکھایا ہم نیکی کرنے والوں کو ایسی ہی جزا دیتے ہیں

You have fulfilled the vision." Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good

Inna hatha lahuwa albalao almubeenu

یقیناً یہ ایک کھلی آزمائش تھی

Indeed, this was the clear trial

Wafadaynahu bithibhin AAatheemin

اور ہم نے ایک بڑی قربانی فدیے میں دے کر اس بچے کو چھڑا لیا

And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice

Watarakna AAalayhi fee alakhireena

اور اس کی تعریف و توصیف ہمیشہ کے لیے بعد کی نسلوں میں چھوڑ دی

And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations

Salamun AAala ibraheema

سلام ہے ابراہیمؑ پر

Peace upon Abraham

Kathalika najzee almuhsineena

ہم نیکی کرنے والوں کو ایسی ہی جزا دیتے ہیں

Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good

Innahu min AAibadina almumineena

یقیناً وہ ہمارے مومن بندوں میں سے تھا

Indeed, he was of Our believing servants

Wabashsharnahu biishaqa nabiyyan mina alssaliheena

اور ہم نے اسے اسحاقؑ کی بشارت دی، ایک نبی صالحین میں سے

And We gave him good tidings of Isaac, a prophet from among the righteous

Wabarakna AAalayhi waAAala ishaqa wamin thurriyyatihima muhsinun wathalimun linafsihi mubeenun

اور اسے اور اسحاقؑ کو برکت دی اب ان دونوں کی ذریّت میں سے کوئی محسن ہے اور کوئی اپنے نفس پر صریح ظلم کرنے والا ہے

And We blessed him and Isaac. But among their descendants is the doer of good and the clearly unjust to himself

Walaqad mananna AAala moosa waharoona

اور ہم نے موسیٰؑ و ہارونؑ پر احسان کیا

And We did certainly confer favor upon Moses and Aaron

Wanajjaynahuma waqawmahuma mina alkarbi alAAatheemi

اُن کو اور ان کی قوم کو کرب عظیم سے نجات دی

And We saved them and their people from the great affliction

Wanasarnahum fakanoo humu alghalibeena

اُنہیں نصرت بخشی جس کی وجہ سے وہی غالب رہے

And We supported them so it was they who overcame

Waataynahuma alkitaba almustabeena

ان کو نہایت واضح کتاب عطا کی

And We gave them the explicit Scripture

Wahadaynahuma alssirata almustaqeema

انہیں راہ راست دکھائی

And We guided them on the straight path

Watarakna AAalayhima fee alakhireena

اور بعد کی نسلوں میں ان کا ذکر خیر باقی رکھا

And We left for them [favorable mention] among later generations

Salamun AAala moosa waharoona

سلام ہے موسیٰؑ اور ہارونؑ پر

Peace upon Moses and Aaron

Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineena

ہم نیکی کرنے والوں کو ایسی ہی جزا دیتے ہیں

Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good

Innahuma min AAibadina almumineena

در حقیقت وہ ہمارے مومن بندوں میں سے تھے

Indeed, they were of Our believing servants

Wainna ilyasa lamina almursaleena

اور الیاسؑ بھی یقیناً مرسلین میں سے تھا

And indeed, Elias was from among the messengers

Ith qala liqawmihi ala tattaqoona

یاد کرو جب اس نے اپنی قوم سے کہا تھا کہ "تم لوگ ڈرتے نہیں ہو؟

When he said to his people, "Will you not fear Allah

AtadAAoona baAAlan watatharoona ahsana alkhaliqeena

کیا تم بعل کو پکارتے ہو اور احسن الخالقین کو چھوڑ دیتے ہو

Do you call upon Ba'l and leave the best of creators

Allaha rabbakum warabba abaikumu alawwaleena

اُس اللہ کو جو تمہارا اور تمہارے اگلے پچھلے آبا و اجداد کا رب ہے؟

Allah, your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers

Fakaththaboohu fainnahum lamuhdaroona

مگر انہوں نے اسے جھٹلا دیا، سو اب یقیناً وہ سزا کے لیے پیش کیے جانے والے ہیں

And they denied him, so indeed, they will be brought [for punishment]

Illa AAibada Allahi almukhlaseena

بجز اُن بندگان خدا کے جن کو خالص کر لیا گیا تھا

Except the chosen servants of Allah

Watarakna AAalayhi fee alakhireena

اور الیاسؑ کا ذکر خیر ہم نے بعد کی نسلوں میں باقی رکھا

And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations

Salamun AAala il yaseena

سلام ہے الیاسؑ پر

Peace upon Elias

Inna kathalika najzee almuhsineena

ہم نیکی کرنے والوں کو ایسی ہی جزا دیتے ہیں

Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good

Innahu min AAibadina almumineena

واقعی وہ ہمارے مومن بندوں میں سے تھا

Indeed, he was of Our believing servants

Wainna lootan lamina almursaleena

اور لوطؑ بھی انہی لوگوں میں سے تھا جو رسول بنا کر بھیجے گئے ہیں

And indeed, Lot was among the messengers

Ith najjaynahu waahlahu ajmaAAeena

یاد کرو جب ہم نے اس کو اور اس کے سب گھر والوں کو نجات دی

[So mention] when We saved him and his family, all

Illa AAajoozan fee alghabireena

سوائے ایک بڑھیا کے جو پیچھے رہ جانے والوں میں سے تھی

Except his wife among those who remained [with the evildoers]

Thumma dammarna alakhareena

پھر باقی سب کو تہس نہس کر دیا

Then We destroyed the others

Wainnakum latamurroona AAalayhim musbiheena

آج تم شب و روز اُن کے اجڑے دیار پر سے گزرتے ہو

And indeed, you pass by them in the morning

Wabiallayli afala taAAqiloona

کیا تم کو عقل نہیں آتی؟

And at night. Then will you not use reason

Wainna yoonusa lamina almursaleena

اور یقیناً یونسؑ بھی رسولوں میں سے تھا

And indeed, Jonah was among the messengers

Ith abaqa ila alfulki almashhooni

یاد کرو جب وہ ایک بھری کشتی کی طرف بھاگ نکلا

[Mention] when he ran away to the laden ship

Fasahama fakana mina almudhadeena

پھر قرعہ اندازی میں شریک ہوا اور اس میں مات کھائی

And he drew lots and was among the losers

Failtaqamahu alhootu wahuwa muleemun

آخرکار مچھلی نے اسے نگل لیا اور وہ ملامت زدہ تھا

Then the fish swallowed him, while he was blameworthy

Falawla annahu kana mina almusabbiheena

اب اگر وہ تسبیح کرنے والوں میں سے نہ ہوتا تو

And had he not been of those who exalt Allah

Lalabitha fee batnihi ila yawmi yubAAathoona

روز قیامت تک اسی مچھلی کے پیٹ میں رہتا

He would have remained inside its belly until the Day they are resurrected

Fanabathnahu bialAAarai wahuwa saqeemun

آخرکار ہم نے اسے بڑی سقیم حالت میں ایک چٹیل زمین پر پھینک دیا

But We threw him onto the open shore while he was ill

Waanbatna AAalayhi shajaratan min yaqteenin

اور اُس پر ایک بیل دار درخت اگا دیا

And We caused to grow over him a gourd vine

Waarsalnahu ila miati alfin aw yazeedoona

اس کے بعد ہم نے اُسے ایک لاکھ، یا اس سے زائد لوگوں کی طرف بھیجا

And We sent him to [his people of] a hundred thousand or more

Faamanoo famattaAAnahum ila heenin

وہ ایمان لائے اور ہم نے ایک وقت خاص تک انہیں باقی رکھا

And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment [of life] for a time

Faistaftihim alirabbika albanatu walahumu albanoona

پھر ذرا اِن لوگوں سے پوچھو، کیا (اِن کے دل کو یہ بات لگتی ہے کہ) تمہارے رب کے لیے تو ہوں بیٹیاں اور ان کے لیے ہوں بیٹے

So inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Does your Lord have daughters while they have sons

Am khalaqna almalaikata inathan wahum shahidoona

کیا واقعی ہم نے ملائکہ کو عورتیں ہی بنا یا ہے اور یہ آنکھوں دیکھی بات کہہ رہے ہیں؟

Or did We create the angels as females while they were witnesses

Ala innahum min ifkihim layaqooloona

خوب سن رکھو، دراصل یہ لوگ اپنی من گھڑت سے یہ بات کہتے ہیں

Unquestionably, it is out of their [invented] falsehood that they say

Walada Allahu wainnahum lakathiboona

کہ اللہ اولاد رکھتا ہے، اور فی الواقع یہ جھوٹے ہیں

Allah has begotten," and indeed, they are liars

Astafa albanati AAala albaneena

کیا اللہ نے بیٹوں کے بجائے بیٹیاں اپنے لیے پسند کر لیں؟

Has He chosen daughters over sons

Ma lakum kayfa tahkumoona

تمہیں کیا ہو گیا ہے، کیسے حکم لگا رہے ہو

What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement

Afala tathakkaroona

کیا تمہیں ہوش نہیں آتا

Then will you not be reminded

Am lakum sultanun mubeenun

یا پھر تمہارے پاس اپنی ان باتوں کے لیے کوئی صاف سند ہے

Or do you have a clear authority

Fatoo bikitabikum in kuntum sadiqeena

تو لاؤ اپنی وہ کتاب اگر تم سچے ہو

Then produce your scripture, if you should be truthful

WajaAAaloo baynahu wabayna aljinnati nasaban walaqad AAalimati aljinnatu innahum lamuhdaroona

اِنہوں نے اللہ اور ملائکہ کے درمیان نسب کا رشتہ بنا رکھا ہے، حالانکہ ملائکہ خوب جانتے ہیں کہ یہ لوگ مجرم کی حیثیت سے پیش ہونے والے ہیں

And they have claimed between Him and the jinn a lineage, but the jinn have already known that they [who made such claims] will be brought to [punishment]

Subhana Allahi AAamma yasifoona

(اور وہ کہتے ہیں کہ) "اللہ اُن صفات سے پاک ہے

Exalted is Allah above what they describe

Illa AAibada Allahi almukhlaseena

جو اُس کے خالص بندوں کے سوا دوسرے لوگ اس کی طرف منسوب کرتے ہیں

Except the chosen servants of Allah [who do not share in that sin]

Fainnakum wama taAAbudoona

پس تم اور تمہارے یہ معبود

So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship

Ma antum AAalayhi bifatineena

اللہ سے کسی کو پھیر نہیں سکتے

You cannot tempt [anyone] away from Him

Illa man huwa sali aljaheemi

مگر صرف اُس کو جو دوزخ کی بھڑکتی ہوئی آگ میں جھلسنے والا ہو

Except he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire

Wama minna illa lahu maqamun maAAloomun

اور ہمارا حال تو یہ ہے کہ ہم میں سے ہر ایک کا ایک مقام مقرر ہے

[The angels say], "There is not among us any except that he has a known position

Wainna lanahnu alssaffoona

اور ہم صف بستہ خدمت گار ہیں

And indeed, we are those who line up [for prayer]

Wainna lanahnu almusabbihoona

اور تسبیح کرنے والے ہیں

And indeed, we are those who exalt Allah

Wain kanoo layaqooloona

یہ لوگ پہلے تو کہا کرتے تھے

And indeed, the disbelievers used to say

Law anna AAindana thikran mina alawwaleena

کہ کاش ہمارے پاس وہ "ذکر" ہوتا جو پچھلی قوموں کو ملا تھا

If we had a message from [those of] the former peoples

Lakunna AAibada Allahi almukhlaseena

تو ہم اللہ کے چیدہ بندے ہوتے

We would have been the chosen servants of Allah

Fakafaroo bihi fasawfa yaAAlamoona

مگر (جب وہ آ گیا) تو انہوں نے اس کا انکار کر دیا اب عنقریب اِنہیں (اِس روش کا نتیجہ) معلوم ہو جائے گا

But they disbelieved in it, so they are going to know

Walaqad sabaqat kalimatuna liAAibadina almursaleena

اپنے بھیجے ہوئے بندوں سے ہم پہلے ہی وعدہ کر چکے ہیں

And Our word has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers

Innahum lahumu almansooroona

کہ یقیناً ان کی مدد کی جائے گی

[That] indeed, they would be those given victory

Wainna jundana lahumu alghaliboona

اور ہمارا لشکر ہی غالب ہو کر رہے گا

And [that] indeed, Our soldiers will be those who overcome

Fatawalla AAanhum hatta heenin

پس اے نبیؐ، ذرا کچھ مدّت تک انہیں اِن کے حال پر چھوڑ دو

So, [O Muhammad], leave them for a time

Waabsirhum fasawfa yubsiroona

اور دیکھتے رہو، عنقریب یہ خود بھی دیکھ لیں گے

And see [what will befall] them, for they are going to see

AfabiAAathabina yastaAAjiloona

کیا یہ ہمارے عذاب کے لیے جلدی مچا رہے ہیں؟

Then for Our punishment are they impatient

Faitha nazala bisahatihim fasaa sabahu almunthareena

جب وہ اِن کے صحن میں آ اترے گا تو وہ دن اُن لوگوں کے لیے بہت برا ہو گا جنہیں متنبہ کیا جا چکا ہے

But when it descends in their territory, then evil is the morning of those who were warned

Watawalla AAanhum hatta heenin

بس ذرا اِنہیں کچھ مدت کے لیے چھوڑ دو

And leave them for a time

Waabsir fasawfa yubsiroona

اور دیکھتے رہو، عنقریب یہ خود دیکھ لیں گے

And see, for they are going to see

Subhana rabbika rabbi alAAizzati AAamma yasifoona

پاک ہے تیرا رب، عزت کا مالک، اُن تمام باتوں سے جو یہ لوگ بنا رہے ہیں

Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe

Wasalamun AAala almursaleena

اور سلام ہے مرسلین پر

And peace upon the messengers

Waalhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena

اور ساری تعریف اللہ ربّ العالمین ہی کے لیے ہے

And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds
