HolyWayz (“we”) provides the HolyWayz Android app (com.holywayz.app) and the website holywayz.com. We built both so that you can use them without giving us any personal data. This policy explains exactly what happens with information on your device.
1. No accounts, no ads, no tracking
There is no sign-up or login. We show no advertising and include no advertising or analytics SDKs, trackers or tracking cookies. We do not sell, rent or share personal data – because we do not collect it.
2. Data stored on your device
Your bookmarks, notes, tasbeeh counts, reading position, display preferences, prayer-time settings and chosen location are stored only on your device (app storage on Android, browser local storage on the website). They are never uploaded to us. Uninstalling the app or clearing the site data in your browser deletes them.
3. Location
If you allow it, your device location is used only on your device to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction. It is not sent to us or to any third party. You can instead pick a city or type coordinates manually, and you can withdraw the permission at any time in your device or browser settings.
4. Notifications and alarms
The app schedules prayer (adhan) notifications locally on your phone. On the website, notifications are shown by your browser only while the page is open and only if you enable them.
5. Content loaded from public services
To keep the app small, some content is downloaded on demand from public, free services: hadith text (fawazahmed0/hadith-api via jsDelivr / GitHub), extra Quran translations (fawazahmed0/quran-api, AlQuran.cloud), tafsir (spa5k/tafsir_api via jsDelivr), word-by-word meanings (api.quran.com) and recitation audio (cdn.islamic.network). Books open from their publishers’ websites. When your device requests these files, the service receives the technical information that every internet request carries (such as your IP address and browser/app type), under its own privacy policy. We do not send any personal data with these requests.
6. Website hosting
Like any website, our web server may keep standard access logs (IP address, time, page requested) for security and troubleshooting. These logs are not used to identify or profile visitors and are deleted regularly.
7. Children
HolyWayz is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
8. Permissions used by the Android app
- Location (optional) – prayer times and Qibla, processed on the device.
- Internet – downloading the on-demand content listed above.
- Notifications, exact alarms, run at startup – adhan reminders that survive a reboot.
- Foreground service / media playback – Quran recitation in the background with lock-screen controls.
