Para 19 – Wa Qalallazina

Waqala allatheena la yarjoona liqaana lawla onzila AAalayna almalaikatu aw nara rabbana laqadi istakbaroo fee anfusihim waAAataw AAutuwwan kabeeran

جو لوگ ہمارے حضور پیش ہونے کا اندیشہ نہیں رکھتے وہ کہتے ہیں "کیوں نہ فرشتے ہمارے پاس بھیجے جائیں؟ یا پھر ہم اپنے رب کو دیکھیں" بڑا گھمنڈ لے بیٹھے یہ اپنے نفس میں اور حد سے گزر گئے یہ اپنی سرکشی میں

And those who do not expect the meeting with Us say, "Why were not angels sent down to us, or [why] do we [not] see our Lord?" They have certainly become arrogant within themselves and [become] insolent with great insolence

Yawma yarawna almalaikata la bushra yawmaithin lilmujrimeena wayaqooloona hijran mahjooran

جس روز یہ فرشتوں کو دیکھیں گے وہ مجرموں کے لیے کسی بشارت کا دن نہ ہوگا، چیخ اٹھیں گے کہ پناہ بخدا

The day they see the angels - no good tidings will there be that day for the criminals, and [the angels] will say, "Prevented and inaccessible

Waqadimna ila ma AAamiloo min AAamalin fajaAAalnahu habaan manthooran

اور جو کچھ بھی ان کا کیا دھرا ہے اُسے لے کر ہم غبار کی طرح اڑا دیں گے

And We will regard what they have done of deeds and make them as dust dispersed

Ashabu aljannati yawmaithin khayrun mustaqarran waahsanu maqeelan

بس وہی لوگ جو جنت کے مستحق ہیں اُس دن اچھی جگہ ٹھیریں گے اور دوپہرگزارنے کو عمدہ مقام پائیں گے

The companions of Paradise, that Day, are [in] a better settlement and better resting place

Wayawma tashaqqaqu alssamao bialghamami wanuzzila almalaikatu tanzeelan

آسمان کو چیرتا ہوا ایک بادل اس روز نمودار ہو گا اور فرشتوں کے پرے کے پرے اتار دیے جائیں گے

And [mention] the Day when the heaven will split open with [emerging] clouds, and the angels will be sent down in successive descent

Almulku yawmaithin alhaqqu lilrrahmani wakana yawman AAala alkafireena AAaseeran

اُس روز حقیقی بادشاہی صرف رحمان کی ہو گی اور وہ منکرین کے لیے بڑا سخت دن ہو گا

True sovereignty, that Day, is for the Most Merciful. And it will be upon the disbelievers a difficult Day

Wayawma yaAAaddu alththalimu AAala yadayhi yaqoolu ya laytanee ittakhathtu maAAa alrrasooli sabeelan

ظالم انسان اپنا ہاتھ چبائے گا اور کہے گا "کاش میں نے رسول کا ساتھ دیا ہوتا

And the Day the wrongdoer will bite on his hands [in regret] he will say, "Oh, I wish I had taken with the Messenger a way

Ya waylata laytanee lam attakhith fulanan khaleelan

ہائے میری کم بختی، کاش میں نے فلاں شخص کو دوست نہ بنایا ہوتا

Oh, woe to me! I wish I had not taken that one as a friend

Laqad adallanee AAani alththikri baAAda ith jaanee wakana alshshaytanu lilinsani khathoolan

اُس کے بہکائے میں آ کر میں نے وہ نصیحت نہ مانی جو میرے پاس آئی تھی، شیطان انسان کے حق میں بڑا ہی بے وفا نکلا

He led me away from the remembrance after it had come to me. And ever is Satan, to man, a deserter

Waqala alrrasoolu ya rabbi inna qawmee ittakhathoo hatha alqurana mahjooran

اور رسول کہے گا کہ "اے میرے رب، میری قوم کے لوگوں نے اس قرآن کو نشانہ تضحیک بنا لیا تھا

And the Messenger has said, "O my Lord, indeed my people have taken this Qur'an as [a thing] abandoned

Wakathalika jaAAalna likulli nabiyyin AAaduwwan mina almujrimeena wakafa birabbika hadiyan wanaseeran

اے محمدؐ، ہم نے تو اسی طرح مجرموں کو ہر نبی کا دشمن بنایا ہے اور تمہارے لیے تمہارا رب ہی رہنمائی اور مدد کو کافی ہے

And thus have We made for every prophet an enemy from among the criminals. But sufficient is your Lord as a guide and a helper

Waqala allatheena kafaroo lawla nuzzila AAalayhi alquranu jumlatan wahidatan kathalika linuthabbita bihi fuadaka warattalnahu tarteelan

منکرین کہتے ہیں "اِس شخص پر سارا قرآن ایک ہی وقت میں کیوں نہ اتار دیا گیا؟" ہاں، ایسا اس لیے کیا گیا ہے کہ اس کو اچھی طرح ہم تمہارے ذہن نشین کرتے رہیں اور (اسی غرض کے لیے) ہم نے اس کو ایک خاص ترتیب کے ساتھ الگ الگ اجزاء کی شکل دی ہے

And those who disbelieve say, "Why was the Qur'an not revealed to him all at once?" Thus [it is] that We may strengthen thereby your heart. And We have spaced it distinctly

Wala yatoonaka bimathalin illa jinaka bialhaqqi waahsana tafseeran

اور (اس میں یہ مصلحت بھی ہے) کہ جب کبھی وہ تمہارے سامنے کوئی نرالی بات (یا عجیب سوال) لے کر آئے، اُس کا ٹھیک جواب بر وقت ہم نے تمہیں دے دیا اور بہترین طریقے سے بات کھول دی

And they do not come to you with an argument except that We bring you the truth and the best explanation

Allatheena yuhsharoona AAala wujoohihim ila jahannama olaika sharrun makanan waadallu sabeelan

جو لوگ اوندھے منہ جہنم کی طرف دھکیلے جانے والے ہیں ان کا موقف بہت برا اور ان کی راہ حد درجہ غلط ہے

The ones who are gathered on their faces to Hell - those are the worst in position and farthest astray in [their] way

Walaqad atayna moosa alkitaba wajaAAalna maAAahu akhahu haroona wazeeran

ہم نے موسیٰؑ کو کتاب دی اور اس کے ساتھ اس کے بھائی ہارونؑ کو مددگار کے طور پر لگایا

And We had certainly given Moses the Scripture and appointed with him his brother Aaron as an assistant

Faqulna ithhaba ila alqawmi allatheena kaththaboo biayatina fadammarnahum tadmeeran

اور اُن سے کہا کہ جاؤ اُس قوم کی طرف جس نے ہماری آیات کو جھٹلا دیا ہے آخر کار اُن لوگوں کو ہم نے تباہ کر کے رکھ دیا

And We said, "Go both of you to the people who have denied Our signs." Then We destroyed them with [complete] destruction

Waqawma noohin lamma kaththaboo alrrusula aghraqnahum wajaAAalnahum lilnnasi ayatan waaAAtadna lilththalimeena AAathaban aleeman

یہی حال قوم نوحؑ کا ہوا جب انہوں نے رسولوں کی تکذیب کی ہم نے اُن کو غرق کر دیا اور دنیا بھر کے لوگوں کے لیے ایک نشان عبرت بنا دیا اور ان ظالموں کے لیے ایک دردناک عذاب ہم نے مہیا کر رکھا ہے

And the people of Noah - when they denied the messengers, We drowned them, and We made them for mankind a sign. And We have prepared for the wrongdoers a painful punishment

WaAAadan wathamooda waashaba alrrassi waquroonan bayna thalika katheeran

اِسی طرح عاد اور ثمود اور اصحاب الرس اور بیچ کی صدیوں کے بہت سے لوگ تباہ کیے گئے

And [We destroyed] 'Aad and Thamud and the companions of the well and many generations between them

Wakullan darabna lahu alamthala wakullan tabbarna tatbeeran

اور ان میں سے ہر ایک کو ہم نے (پہلے تباہ ہونے والوں کی) مثالیں دے دے کر سمجھایا اور آخرکار ہر ایک کو غارت کر دیا

And for each We presented examples [as warnings], and each We destroyed with [total] destruction

Walaqad ataw AAala alqaryati allatee omtirat matara alssawi afalam yakoonoo yarawnaha bal kanoo la yarjoona nushooran

اور اُس بستی پر تو اِن کا گزر ہو چکا ہے جس پر بدترین بارش برسائی گئی تھی کیا انہوں نے اس کا حال دیکھا نہ ہو گا؟ مگر یہ موت کے بعد دوسری زندگی کی توقع ہی نہیں رکھتے

And they have already come upon the town which was showered with a rain of evil. So have they not seen it? But they are not expecting resurrection

Waitha raawka in yattakhithoonaka illa huzuwan ahatha allathee baAAatha Allahu rasoolan

یہ لوگ جب تمہیں دیکھتے ہیں تو تمہارا مذاق بنا لیتے ہیں (کہتے ہیں) "کیا یہ شخص ہے جسے خدا نے رسول بنا کر بھیجا ہے؟

And when they see you, [O Muhammad], they take you not except in ridicule, [saying], "Is this the one whom Allah has sent as a messenger

In kada layudilluna AAan alihatina lawla an sabarna AAalayha wasawfa yaAAlamoona heena yarawna alAAathaba man adallu sabeelan

اِس نے تو ہمیں گمراہ کر کے اپنے معبودوں سے برگشتہ ہی کر دیا ہوتا اگر ہم اُن کی عقیدت پر جم نہ گئے ہوتے" اچھا، وہ وقت دور نہیں ہے جب عذاب دیکھ کر اِنہیں خود معلوم ہو جائے گا کہ کون گمراہی میں دور نکل گیا تھا

He almost would have misled us from our gods had we not been steadfast in [worship of] them." But they are going to know, when they see the punishment, who is farthest astray in [his] way

Araayta mani ittakhatha ilahahu hawahu afaanta takoonu AAalayhi wakeelan

کبھی تم نے اُس شخص کے حال پر غور کیا ہے جس نے اپنی خواہش نفس کو اپنا خدا بنا لیا ہو؟ کیا تم ایسے شخص کو راہِ راست پر لانے کا ذمہ لے سکتے ہو؟

Have you seen the one who takes as his god his own desire? Then would you be responsible for him

Am tahsabu anna aktharahum yasmaAAoona aw yaAAqiloona in hum illa kaalanAAami bal hum adallu sabeelan

کیا تم سمجھتے ہو کہ ان میں سے اکثر لوگ سنتے اور سمجھتے ہیں؟ یہ تو جانوروں کی طرح ہیں، بلکہ اُن سے بھی گئے گزرے

Or do you think that most of them hear or reason? They are not except like livestock. Rather, they are [even] more astray in [their] way

Alam tara ila rabbika kayfa madda alththilla walaw shaa lajaAAalahu sakinan thumma jaAAalna alshshamsa AAalayhi daleelan

تم نے دیکھا نہیں کہ تمہارا رب کس طرح سایہ پھیلا دیتا ہے؟ اگر وہ چاہتا تو اسے دائمی سایہ بنا دیتا ہم نے سورج کو اُس پر دلیل بنایا

Have you not considered your Lord - how He extends the shadow, and if He willed, He could have made it stationary? Then We made the sun for it an indication

Thumma qabadnahu ilayna qabdan yaseeran

پھر (جیسے جیسے سورج اٹھتا جاتا ہے) ہم اس سائے کو رفتہ رفتہ اپنی طرف سمیٹتے چلے جاتے ہیں

Then We hold it in hand for a brief grasp

Wahuwa allathee jaAAala lakumu allayla libasan waalnnawma subatan wajaAAala alnnahara nushooran

اور وہ اللہ ہی ہے جس نے رات کو تمہارے لیے لباس، اور نیند کو سکونِ موت، اور دن کو جی اٹھنے کا وقت بنایا

And it is He who has made the night for you as clothing and sleep [a means for] rest and has made the day a resurrection

Wahuwa allathee arsala alrriyaha bushran bayna yaday rahmatihi waanzalna mina alssamai maan tahooran

اور وہی ہے جو اپنی رحمت کے آگے آگے ہواؤں کو بشارت بنا کر بھیجتا ہے پھر آسمان سے پاک پانی نازل کرتا ہے

And it is He who sends the winds as good tidings before His mercy, and We send down from the sky pure water

Linuhyiya bihi baldatan maytan wanusqiyahu mimma khalaqna anAAaman waanasiyya katheeran

تاکہ ایک مردہ علاقے کو اس کے ذریعے زندگی بخشے اور اپنی مخلوق میں سے بہت سے جانوروں اور انسانوں کو سیراب کرے

That We may bring to life thereby a dead land and give it as drink to those We created of numerous livestock and men

Walaqad sarrafnahu baynahum liyaththakkaroo faaba aktharu alnnasi illa kufooran

اس کرشمے کو ہم بار بار ان کے سامنے لاتے ہیں تاکہ وہ کچھ سبق لیں، مگر اکثر لوگ کفر اور ناشکری کے سوا کوئی دوسرا رویہ اختیار کرنے سے انکار کر دیتے ہیں

And We have certainly distributed it among them that they might be reminded, but most of the people refuse except disbelief

Walaw shina labaAAathna fee kulli qaryatin natheeran

اگر ہم چاہتے تو ایک ایک بستی میں ایک ایک نذیر اٹھا کھڑا کرتے

And if We had willed, We could have sent into every city a warner

Fala tutiAAi alkafireena wajahidhum bihi jihadan kabeeran

پس اے نبیؐ، کافروں کی بات ہرگز نہ مانو اور اس قرآن کو لے کر ان کے ساتھ جہاد کبیر کرو

So do not obey the disbelievers, and strive against them with the Qur'an a great striving

Wahuwa allathee maraja albahrayni hatha AAathbun furatun wahatha milhun ojajun wajaAAala baynahuma barzakhan wahijran mahjooran

اور وہی ہے جس نے دو سمندروں کو ملا رکھا ہے ایک لذیذ و شیریں، دوسرا تلخ و شور اور دونوں کے درمیان ایک پردہ حائل ہے ایک رکاوٹ ہے جو انہیں گڈ مڈ ہونے سے روکے ہوئے ہے

And it is He who has released [simultaneously] the two seas, one fresh and sweet and one salty and bitter, and He placed between them a barrier and prohibiting partition

Wahuwa allathee khalaqa mina almai basharan fajaAAalahu nasaban wasihran wakana rabbuka qadeeran

اور وہی ہے جس نے پانی سے ایک بشر پیدا کیا، پھر اس سے نسب اور سسرال کے دو الگ سلسلے چلائے تیرا رب بڑا ہی قدرت والا ہے

And it is He who has created from water a human being and made him [a relative by] lineage and marriage. And ever is your Lord competent [concerning creation]

WayaAAbudoona min dooni Allahi ma la yanfaAAuhum wala yadurruhum wakana alkafiru AAala rabbihi thaheeran

اس خدا کو چھوڑ کر لوگ اُن کو پوج رہے ہیں جو نہ ان کو نفع پہنچا سکتے ہیں نہ نقصان، اور اوپر سے مزید یہ کہ کافر اپنے رب کے مقابلے میں ہر باغی کا مدد گار بنا ہوا ہے

But they worship rather than Allah that which does not benefit them or harm them, and the disbeliever is ever, against his Lord, an assistant [to Satan]

Wama arsalnaka illa mubashshiran wanatheeran

اے محمدؐ، تم کو تو ہم نے بس ایک مبشر اور نذیر بنا کر بھیجا ہے

And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a bringer of good tidings and a warner

Qul ma asalukum AAalayhi min ajrin illa man shaa an yattakhitha ila rabbihi sabeelan

اِن سے کہہ دو کہ "میں اس کام پر تم سے کوئی اُجرت نہیں مانگتا، میری اُجرت بس یہی ہے کہ جس کا جی چاہے وہ اپنے رب کا راستہ اختیار کر لے

Say, "I do not ask of you for it any payment - only that whoever wills might take to his Lord a way

Watawakkal AAala alhayyi allathee la yamootu wasabbih bihamdihi wakafa bihi bithunoobi AAibadihi khabeeran

اور اے محمدؐ، اُس خدا پر بھروسہ رکھو جو زندہ ہے اور کبھی مرنے والا نہیں اس کی حمد کے ساتھ اس کی تسبیح کرو اپنے بندوں کے گناہوں سے بس اُسی کا باخبر ہونا کافی ہے

And rely upon the Ever-Living who does not die, and exalt [Allah] with His praise. And sufficient is He to be, with the sins of His servants, Acquainted

Allathee khalaqa alssamawati waalarda wama baynahuma fee sittati ayyamin thumma istawa AAala alAAarshi alrrahmanu faisal bihi khabeeran

وہ جس نے چھ دنوں میں زمین اور آسمان کو اور اُن ساری چیزوں کو بنا کر رکھ دیا جو آسمان و زمین کے درمیان ہیں، پھر آپ ہی (کائنات کے تخت سلطنت) "عرش" پر جلوہ فرما ہوا رحمٰن، اس کی شان بس کسی جاننے والے سے پوچھو

He who created the heavens and the earth and what is between them in six days and then established Himself above the Throne - the Most Merciful, so ask about Him one well informed

Waitha qeela lahumu osjudoo lilrrahmani qaloo wama alrrahmanu anasjudu lima tamuruna wazadahum nufooran

اِن لوگوں سے جب کہا جاتا ہے کہ اس رحمان کو سجدہ کرو تو کہتے ہیں "رحمان کیا ہوتا ہے؟ کیا بس جسے تو کہہ دے اسی کو ہم سجدہ کرتے پھریں؟" یہ دعوت ان کی نفرت میں الٹا اور اضافہ کر دیتی ہے

And when it is said to them, "Prostrate to the Most Merciful," they say, "And what is the Most Merciful? Should we prostrate to that which you order us?" And it increases them in aversion

Tabaraka allathee jaAAala fee alssamai buroojan wajaAAala feeha sirajan waqamaran muneeran

بڑا متبرک ہے وہ جس نے آسمان میں برج بنائے اور اس میں ایک چراغ اور ایک چمکتا چاند روشن کیا

Blessed is He who has placed in the sky great stars and placed therein a [burning] lamp and luminous moon

Wahuwa allathee jaAAala allayla waalnnahara khilfatan liman arada an yaththakkara aw arada shukooran

وہی ہے جس نے رات اور دن کو ایک دوسرے کا جانشین بنایا، ہر اس شخص کے لیے جو سبق لینا چاہے، یا شکر گزار ہونا چاہے

And it is He who has made the night and the day in succession for whoever desires to remember or desires gratitude

WaAAibadu alrrahmani allatheena yamshoona AAala alardi hawnan waitha khatabahumu aljahiloona qaloo salaman

رحمان کے (اصلی) بندے وہ ہیں جو زمین پر نرم چال چلتے ہیں اور جاہل ان کے منہ کو آئیں تو کہہ دیتے ہیں کہ تم کو سلام

And the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth easily, and when the ignorant address them [harshly], they say [words of] peace

Waallatheena yabeetoona lirabbihim sujjadan waqiyaman

جو اپنے رب کے حضور سجدے اور قیام میں راتیں گزارتے ہیں

And those who spend [part of] the night to their Lord prostrating and standing [in prayer]

Waallatheena yaqooloona rabbana isrif AAanna AAathaba jahannama inna AAathabaha kana gharaman

جو دعائیں کرتے ہیں کہ "اے ہمارے رب، جہنم کے عذاب سے ہم کو بچا لے، اُس کا عذاب تو جان کا لاگو ہے

And those who say, "Our Lord, avert from us the punishment of Hell. Indeed, its punishment is ever adhering

Innaha saat mustaqarran wamuqaman

وہ بڑا ہی برا مستقر اور مقام ہے

Indeed, it is evil as a settlement and residence

Waallatheena itha anfaqoo lam yusrifoo walam yaqturoo wakana bayna thalika qawaman

جو خرچ کرتے ہیں تو نہ فضول خرچی کرتے ہیں نہ بخل، بلکہ ان کا خرچ دونوں انتہاؤں کے درمیان اعتدال پر قائم رہتا ہے

And [they are] those who, when they spend, do so not excessively or sparingly but are ever, between that, [justly] moderate

Waallatheena la yadAAoona maAAa Allahi ilahan akhara wala yaqtuloona alnnafsa allatee harrama Allahu illa bialhaqqi wala yaznoona waman yafAAal thalika yalqa athaman

جو اللہ کے سوا کسی اور معبود کو نہیں پکارتے، اللہ کی حرام کی ہوئی کسی جان کو ناحق ہلاک نہیں کرتے، اور نہ زنا کے مرتکب ہوتے ہیں یہ کام جو کوئی کرے وہ اپنے گناہ کا بدلہ پائے گا

And those who do not invoke with Allah another deity or kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed], except by right, and do not commit unlawful sexual intercourse. And whoever should do that will meet a penalty

YudaAAaf lahu alAAathabu yawma alqiyamati wayakhlud feehi muhanan

قیامت کے روز اس کو مکرّر عذاب دیا جائے گا اور اسی میں وہ ہمیشہ ذلت کے ساتھ پڑا رہے گا

Multiplied for him is the punishment on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein humiliated

Illa man taba waamana waAAamila AAamalan salihan faolaika yubaddilu Allahu sayyiatihim hasanatin wakana Allahu ghafooran raheeman

اِلّا یہ کہ کوئی (ان گناہوں کے بعد) توبہ کر چکا ہو اور ایمان لا کر عمل صالح کرنے لگا ہو ایسے لوگوں کی برائیوں کو اللہ بھلائیوں سے بدل دے گا اور وہ بڑا غفور رحیم ہے

Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous work. For them Allah will replace their evil deeds with good. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful

Waman taba waAAamila salihan fainnahu yatoobu ila Allahi mataban

جو شخص توبہ کر کے نیک عملی اختیار کرتا ہے وہ تو اللہ کی طرف پلٹ آتا ہے جیسا کہ پلٹنے کا حق ہے

And he who repents and does righteousness does indeed turn to Allah with [accepted] repentance

Waallatheena la yashhadoona alzzoora waitha marroo biallaghwi marroo kiraman

(اور رحمٰن کے بندے وہ ہیں) جو جھوٹ کے گواہ نہیں بنتے اور کسی لغو چیز پر ان کا گزر ہو جائے تو شریف آدمیوں کی طرح گزر جاتے ہیں

And [they are] those who do not testify to falsehood, and when they pass near ill speech, they pass by with dignity

Waallatheena itha thukkiroo biayati rabbihim lam yakhirroo AAalayha summan waAAumyanan

جنہیں اگر اُن کے رب کی آیات سنا کر نصیحت کی جاتی ہے تو وہ اس پر اندھے اور بہرے بن کر نہیں رہ جاتے

And those who, when reminded of the verses of their Lord, do not fall upon them deaf and blind

Waallatheena yaqooloona rabbana hab lana min azwajina wathurriyyatina qurrata aAAyunin waijAAalna lilmuttaqeena imaman

جو دعائیں مانگا کرتے ہیں کہ "اے ہمارے رب، ہمیں اپنی بیویوں اور اپنی اولاد سے آنکھوں کی ٹھنڈک دے اور ہم کو پرہیز گاروں کا امام بنا

And those who say, "Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous

Olaika yujzawna alghurfata bima sabaroo wayulaqqawna feeha tahiyyatan wasalaman

یہ ہیں وہ لوگ جو اپنے صبر کا پھل منزل بلند کی شکل میں پائیں گے آداب و تسلیمات سے اُن کا استقبال ہو گا

Those will be awarded the Chamber for what they patiently endured, and they will be received therein with greetings and [words of] peace

Khalideena feeha hasunat mustaqarran wamuqaman

وہ ہمیشہ ہمیشہ وہاں رہیں گے کیا ہی اچھا ہے وہ مستقر اور وہ مقام

Abiding eternally therein. Good is the settlement and residence

Qul ma yaAAbao bikum rabbee lawla duAAaokum faqad kaththabtum fasawfa yakoonu lizaman

اے محمدؐ، لوگوں سے کہو "میرے رب کو تمہاری کیا حاجت پڑی ہے اگر تم اس کو نہ پکارو اب کہ تم نے جھٹلا دیا ہے، عنقریب وہ سزا پاؤ گے کہ جان چھڑانی محال ہو گی

Say, "What would my Lord care for you if not for your supplication?" For you [disbelievers] have denied, so your denial is going to be adherent

Tilka ayatu alkitabi almubeeni

یہ کتاب مبین کی آیات ہیں

These are the verses of the clear Book

LaAAallaka bakhiAAun nafsaka alla yakoonoo mumineena

اے محمدؐ، شاید تم اس غم میں اپنی جان کھو دو گے کہ یہ لوگ ایمان نہیں لاتے

Perhaps, [O Muhammad], you would kill yourself with grief that they will not be believers

In nasha nunazzil AAalayhim mina alssamai ayatan fathallat aAAnaquhum laha khadiAAeena

ہم چاہیں تو آسمان سے ایسی نشانی نازل کر سکتے ہیں کہ اِن کی گردنیں اس کے آگے جھک جائیں

If We willed, We could send down to them from the sky a sign for which their necks would remain humbled

Wama yateehim min thikrin mina alrrahmani muhdathin illa kanoo AAanhu muAArideena

اِن لوگوں کے پاس رحمان کی طرف سے جو نئی نصیحت بھی آتی ہے یہ اس سے منہ موڑ لیتے ہیں

And no revelation comes to them anew from the Most Merciful except that they turn away from it

Faqad kaththaboo fasayateehim anbao ma kanoo bihi yastahzioona

اب کہ یہ جھٹلا چکے ہیں، عنقریب اِن کو اس چیز کی حقیقت (مختلف طریقوں سے) معلوم ہو جائے گی جس کا یہ مذاق اڑاتے رہے ہیں

For they have already denied, but there will come to them the news of that which they used to ridicule

Awalam yaraw ila alardi kam anbatna feeha min kulli zawjin kareemin

اور کیا انہوں نے کبھی زمین پر نگاہ نہیں ڈالی کہ ہم نے کتنی کثیر مقدار میں ہر طرح کی عمدہ نباتات اس میں پیدا کی ہیں؟

Did they not look at the earth - how much We have produced therein from every noble kind

Inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mumineena

یقیناً اس میں ایک نشانی ہے، مگر ان میں سے اکثر ماننے والے نہیں

Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers

Wainna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu

اور حقیقت یہ ہے کہ تیرا رب زبردست بھی ہے اور رحیم بھی

And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful

Waith nada rabbuka moosa ani iti alqawma alththalimeena

اِنہیں اس وقت کا قصہ سناؤ جب کہ تمہارے رب نے موسیٰؑ کو پکارا "ظالم قوم کے پاس جا

And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people

Qawma firAAawna ala yattaqoona

فرعون کی قوم کے پاس، کیا وہ ڈرتے نہیں؟

The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah

Qala rabbi innee akhafu an yukaththibooni

اُس نے عرض کیا "اے رب، مجھے خوف ہے کہ وہ مجھے جھٹلا دیں گے

He said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me

Wayadeequ sadree wala yantaliqu lisanee faarsil ila haroona

میرا سینہ گھٹتا ہے اور میری زبان نہیں چلتی آپ ہارونؑ کی طرف رسالت بھیجیں

And that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron

Walahum AAalayya thanbun faakhafu an yaqtulooni

اور مجھ پر اُن کے ہاں ایک جرم کا الزام بھی ہے، اس لیے ڈرتا ہوں کہ وہ مجھے قتل کر دیں گے

And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me

Qala kalla faithhaba biayatina inna maAAakum mustamiAAoona

فرمایا "ہرگز نہیں، تم دونوں جاؤ ہماری نشانیاں لے کر، ہم تمہارے ساتھ سب کچھ سنتے رہیں گے

[Allah] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening

Fatiya firAAawna faqoola inna rasoolu rabbi alAAalameena

فرعون کے پاس جاؤ اور اس سے کہو، ہم کو رب العٰلمین نے اس لیے بھیجا ہے

Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds

An arsil maAAana banee israeela

کہ تو بنی اسرائیل کو ہمارے ساتھ جانے دے

[Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel

Qala alam nurabbika feena waleedan walabithta feena min AAumurika sineena

فرعون نے کہا "کیا ہم نے تجھ کو اپنے ہاں بچہ سا نہیں پالا تھا؟ تو نے اپنی عمر کے کئی سال ہمارے ہاں گزارے

[Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life

WafaAAalta faAAlataka allatee faAAalta waanta mina alkafireena

اور اس کے بعد کر گیا جو کچھ کہ کر گیا، تو بڑا احسان فراموش آدمی ہے

And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful

Qala faAAaltuha ithan waana mina alddalleena

موسیٰؑ نے جواب دیا "اُس وقت وہ کام میں نے نادانستگی میں کر دیا تھا

[Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray

Fafarartu minkum lamma khiftukum fawahaba lee rabbee hukman wajaAAalanee mina almursaleena

پھر میں تمہارے خوف سے بھاگ گیا اس کے بعد میرے رب نے مجھ کو حکم عطا کیا اور مجھے رسولوں میں شامل کر لیا

So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers

Watilka niAAmatun tamunnuha AAalayya an AAabbadta banee israeela

رہا تیرا احسان جو تو نے مجھ پر جتایا ہے تو اس کی حقیقت یہ ہے کہ تو نے بنی اسرائیل کو غلام بنا لیا تھا

And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel

Qala firAAawnu wama rabbu alAAalameena

فرعون نے کہا "اور یہ رب العالمین کیا ہوتا ہے؟

Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds

Qala rabbu alssamawati waalardi wama baynahuma in kuntum mooqineena

موسیٰؑ نے جواب دیا "آسمان اور زمین کا رب، اور اُن سب چیزوں کا رب جو آسمان اور زمین کے درمیان ہیں، اگر تم یقین لانے والے ہو

[Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced

Qala liman hawlahu ala tastamiAAoona

فرعون نے اپنے گرد و پیش کے لوگوں سے کہا "سُنتے ہو؟

[Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear

Qala rabbukum warabbu abaikumu alawwaleena

موسیٰؑ نے کہا "تمہارا رب بھی اور تمہارے ان آباء و اجداد کا رب بھی جو گزر چکے ہیں

[Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers

Qala inna rasoolakumu allathee orsila ilaykum lamajnoonun

فرعون نے (حاضرین سے) کہا "تمہارے یہ رسول صاحب جو تمہاری طرف بھیجے گئے ہیں، بالکل ہی پاگل معلوم ہوتے ہیں

[Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad

Qala rabbu almashriqi waalmaghribi wama baynahuma in kuntum taAAqiloona

موسیٰؑ نے کہا "مشرق و مغرب اور جو کچھ ان کے درمیان ہے سب کا رب، اگر آپ لوگ کچھ عقل رکھتے ہیں

[Moses] said, "Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were to reason

Qala laini ittakhathta ilahan ghayree laajAAalannaka mina almasjooneena

فرعون نے کہا "اگر تو نے میرے سوا کسی اور کو معبود بنایا تو تجھے میں اُن لوگوں میں شامل کر دوں گا جو قید خانوں میں پڑے سڑ رہے ہیں

[Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned

Qala awalaw jituka bishayin mubeenin

موسیٰؑ نے کہا "اگرچہ میں لے آؤں تیرے سامنے ایک صریح چیز بھی؟

[Moses] said, "Even if I brought you proof manifest

Qala fati bihi in kunta mina alssadiqeena

فرعون نے کہا "اچھا تو لے آ اگر تو سچا ہے

[Pharaoh] said, "Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful

Faalqa AAasahu faitha hiya thuAAbanun mubeenun

(اس کی زبان سے یہ بات نکلتے ہی) موسیٰؑ نے اپنا عصا پھینکا اور یکایک وہ ایک صریح اژدھا تھا

So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest

WanazaAAa yadahu faitha hiya baydao lilnnathireena

پھر اُس نے اپنا ہاتھ (بغل سے) کھینچا اور وہ سب دیکھنے والوں کے سامنے چمک رہا تھا

And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers

Qala lilmalai hawlahu inna hatha lasahirun AAaleemun

فرعون اپنے گرد و پیش کے سرداروں سے بولا "یہ شخص یقیناً ایک ماہر جادوگر ہے

[Pharaoh] said to the eminent ones around him, "Indeed, this is a learned magician

Yureedu an yukhrijakum min ardikum bisihrihi famatha tamuroona

چاہتا ہے کہ اپنے جادو کے زور سے تم کو ملک سے نکال دے اب بتاؤ تم کیا حکم دیتے ہو؟

He wants to drive you out of your land by his magic, so what do you advise

Qaloo arjih waakhahu waibAAath fee almadaini hashireena

انہوں نے کہا "اسے اور اس کے بھائی کو روک لیجیے اور شہروں میں ہرکارے بھیج دیجیے

They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers

Yatooka bikulli sahharin AAaleemin

کہ ہر سیانے جادوگر کو آپ کے پاس لے آئیں

Who will bring you every learned, skilled magician

FajumiAAa alssaharatu limeeqati yawmin maAAloomin

چنانچہ ایک روز مقرر وقت پر جادوگر اکٹھے کر لیے گئے

So the magicians were assembled for the appointment of a well-known day

Waqeela lilnnasi hal antum mujtamiAAoona

اور لوگوں سے کہا گیا "تم اجتماع میں چلو گے؟

And it was said to the people, "Will you congregate

LaAAallana nattabiAAu alssaharata in kanoo humu alghalibeena

شاید کہ ہم جادوگروں کے دین ہی پر رہ جائیں اگر وہ غالب رہے

That we might follow the magicians if they are the predominant

Falamma jaa alssaharatu qaloo lifirAAawna ainna lana laajran in kunna nahnu alghalibeena

جب جادوگر میدان میں آ گئے تو انہوں نے فرعون سے کہا "ہمیں انعام تو ملے گا اگر ہم غالب رہے؟

And when the magicians arrived, they said to Pharaoh, "Is there indeed for us a reward if we are the predominant

Qala naAAam wainnakum ithan lamina almuqarrabeena

اس نے کہا "ہاں، اور تم تو اس وقت مقربین میں شامل ہو جاؤ گے

He said, "Yes, and indeed, you will then be of those near [to me]

Qala lahum moosa alqoo ma antum mulqoona

موسیٰؑ نے کہا "پھینکو جو تمہیں پھینکنا ہے

Moses said to them, "Throw whatever you will throw

Faalqaw hibalahum waAAisiyyahum waqaloo biAAizzati firAAawna inna lanahnu alghaliboona

انہوں نے فوراً اپنی رسیاں اور لاٹھیاں پھینک دیں اور بولے "فرعون کے اقبال سے ہم ہی غالب رہیں گے

So they threw their ropes and their staffs and said, "By the might of Pharaoh, indeed it is we who are predominant

Faalqa moosa AAasahu faitha hiya talqafu ma yafikoona

پھر موسیٰؑ نے اپنا عصا پھینکا تو یکایک وہ ان کے جھوٹے کرشموں کو ہڑپ کرتا چلا جا رہا تھا

Then Moses threw his staff, and at once it devoured what they falsified

Faolqiya alssaharatu sajideena

اس پر سارے جادوگر بے اختیار سجدے میں گر پڑے

So the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah]

Qaloo amanna birabbi alAAalameena

اور بول اٹھے کہ "مان گئے ہم رب العالمین کو

They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds

Rabbi moosa waharoona

موسیٰؑ اور ہارونؑ کے رب کو

The Lord of Moses and Aaron

Qala amantum lahu qabla an athana lakum innahu lakabeerukumu allathee AAallamakumu alssihra falasawfa taAAlamoona laoqattiAAanna aydiyakum waarjulakum min khilafin walaosallibannakum ajmaAAeena

فرعون نے کہا "تم موسیٰؑ کی بات مان گئے قبل اس کے کہ میں تمہیں اجازت دیتا! ضرور یہ تمہارا بڑا ہے جس نے تمہیں جادو سکھایا ہے اچھا، ابھی تمہیں معلوم ہوا جاتا ہے، میں تمہارے ہاتھ پاؤں مخالف سمتوں میں کٹواؤں گا اور تم سب کو سولی چڑھا دوں گا

[Pharaoh] said, "You believed Moses before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic, but you are going to know. I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you all

Qaloo la dayra inna ila rabbina munqaliboona

انہوں نے جواب دیا "کچھ پرواہ نہیں، ہم اپنے رب کے حضور پہنچ جائیں گے

They said, "No harm. Indeed, to our Lord we will return

Inna natmaAAu an yaghfira lana rabbuna khatayana an kunna awwala almumineena

اور ہمیں توقع ہے کہ ہمارا رب ہمارے گناہ معاف کر دے گا کیونکہ سب سے پہلے ہم ایمان لائے ہیں

Indeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the believers

Waawhayna ila moosa an asri biAAibadee innakum muttabaAAoona

ہم نے موسیٰؑ کو وحی بھیجی کہ "راتوں رات میرے بندوں کو لے کر نکل جاؤ، تمہارا پیچھا کیا جائے گا

And We inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be pursued

Faarsala firAAawnu fee almadaini hashireena

اس پر فرعون نے (فوجیں جمع کرنے کے لیے) شہروں میں نقیب بھیج دیے

Then Pharaoh sent among the cities gatherers

Inna haolai lashirthimatun qaleeloona

(اور کہلا بھیجا) کہ "یہ کچھ مٹھی بھر لوگ ہیں

[And said], "Indeed, those are but a small band

Wainnahum lana laghaithoona

اور انہوں نے ہم کو بہت ناراض کیا ہے

And indeed, they are enraging us

Wainna lajameeAAun hathiroona

اور ہم ایک ایسی جماعت ہیں جس کا شیوہ ہر وقت چوکنا رہنا ہے

And indeed, we are a cautious society

Faakhrajnahum min jannatin waAAuyoonin

اِس طرح ہم انہیں ان کے باغوں اور چشموں

So We removed them from gardens and springs

Wakunoozin wamaqamin kareemin

اور خزانوں اور ان کی بہترین قیام گاہوں سے نکال لائے

And treasures and honorable station

Kathalika waawrathnaha banee israeela

یہ تو ہوا اُن کے ساتھ، اور (دوسری طرف) بنی اسرائیل کو ہم نے ان سب چیزوں کا وارث کر دیا

Thus. And We caused to inherit it the Children of Israel

FaatbaAAoohum mushriqeena

صبح ہوتے ہی یہ لوگ اُن کے تعاقب میں چل پڑے

So they pursued them at sunrise

Falamma taraa aljamAAani qala ashabu moosa inna lamudrakoona

جب دونوں گروہوں کا آمنا سامنا ہوا تو موسیٰؑ کے ساتھی چیخ اٹھے کہ "ہم تو پکڑے گئے

And when the two companies saw one another, the companions of Moses said, "Indeed, we are to be overtaken

Qala kalla inna maAAiya rabbee sayahdeeni

موسیٰؑ نے کہا "ہرگز نہیں میرے ساتھ میرا رب ہے وہ ضرور میری رہنمائی فرمائے گا

[Moses] said, "No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me

Faawhayna ila moosa ani idrib biAAasaka albahra fainfalaqa fakana kullu firqin kaalttawdi alAAatheemi

ہم نے موسیٰؑ کو وحی کے ذریعہ سے حکم دیا کہ "مار اپنا عصا سمندر پر" یکایک سمندر پھَٹ گیا اور اس کا ہر ٹکڑا ایک عظیم الشان پہاڑ کی طرح ہو گیا

Then We inspired to Moses, "Strike with your staff the sea," and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain

Waazlafna thamma alakhareena

اُسی جگہ ہم دوسرے گروہ کو بھی قریب لے آئے

And We advanced thereto the pursuers

Waanjayna moosa waman maAAahu ajmaAAeena

موسیٰؑ اور اُن سب لوگوں کو جو اس کے ساتھ تھے، ہم نے بچا لیا

And We saved Moses and those with him, all together

Thumma aghraqna alakhareena

اور دوسروں کو غرق کر دیا

Then We drowned the others

Inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mumineena

اس واقعہ میں ایک نشانی ہے، مگر اِن لوگوں میں سے اکثر ماننے والے نہیں ہیں

Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers

Wainna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu

اور حقیقت یہ ہے کہ تیرا رب زبردست بھی ہے اور رحیم بھی

And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful

Waotlu AAalayhim nabaa ibraheema

اور اِنہیں ابراہیمؑ کا قصہ سناؤ

And recite to them the news of Abraham

Ith qala liabeehi waqawmihi ma taAAbudoona

جبکہ اس نے اپنے باپ اور اپنی قوم سے پوچھا تھا کہ "یہ کیا چیزیں ہیں جن کو تم پوجتے ہو؟

When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship

Qaloo naAAbudu asnaman fanathallu laha AAakifeena

انہوں نے جواب دیا "کچھ بت ہیں جن کی ہم پوجا کرتے ہیں اور انہی کی سیوا میں ہم لگے رہتے ہیں

They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted

Qala hal yasmaAAoonakum ith tadAAoona

اس نے پوچھا "کیا یہ تمہاری سنتے ہیں جب تم انہیں پکارتے ہو؟

He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate

Aw yanfaAAoonakum aw yadurroona

یا یہ تمہیں کچھ نفع یا نقصان پہنچاتے ہیں؟

Or do they benefit you, or do they harm

Qaloo bal wajadna abaana kathalika yafAAaloona

انہوں نے جواب دیا "نہیں، بلکہ ہم نے اپنے باپ دادا کو ایسا ہی کرتے پایا ہے

They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus

Qala afaraaytum ma kuntum taAAbudoona

اس پر ابراہیمؑ نے کہا "کبھی تم نے (آنکھیں کھول کر) اُن چیزوں کو دیکھا بھی جن کی بندگی تم

He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping

Antum waabaokumu alaqdamoona

اور تمہارے پچھلے باپ دادا بجا لاتے رہے؟

You and your ancient forefathers

Fainnahum AAaduwwun lee illa rabba alAAalameena

میرے تو یہ سب دشمن ہیں، بجز ایک رب العالمین کے

Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds

Allathee khalaqanee fahuwa yahdeeni

جس نے مجھے پیدا کیا، پھر وہی میری رہنمائی فرماتا ہے

Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me

Waallathee huwa yutAAimunee wayasqeeni

جو مجھے کھلاتا اور پلاتا ہے

And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink

Waitha maridtu fahuwa yashfeeni

اور جب میں بیمار ہو جاتا ہوں تو وہی مجھے شفا دیتا ہے

And when I am ill, it is He who cures me

Waallathee yumeetunee thumma yuhyeeni

جو مجھے موت دے گا اور پھر دوبارہ مجھ کو زندگی بخشے گا

And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life

Waallathee atmaAAu an yaghfira lee khateeatee yawma alddeeni

اور جس سے میں امید رکھتا ہوں کہ روزِ جزا میں وہ میری خطا معاف فرما دے گا

And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense

Rabbi hab lee hukman waalhiqnee bialssaliheena

(اِس کے بعد ابراہیمؑ نے دعا کی) "اے میرے رب، مجھے حکم عطا کر اور مجھ کو صالحوں کے ساتھ ملا

[And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous

WaijAAal lee lisana sidqin fee alakhireena

اور بعد کے آنے والوں میں مجھ کو سچی ناموری عطا کر

And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations

WaijAAalnee min warathati jannati alnnaAAeemi

اور مجھے جنتِ نعیم کے وارثوں میں شامل فرما

And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure

Waighfir liabee innahu kana mina alddalleena

اور میرے باپ کو معاف کر دے کہ بے شک وہ گمراہ لوگوں میں سے ہے

And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray

Wala tukhzinee yawma yubAAathoona

اور مجھے اس دن رسوا نہ کر جبکہ سب لوگ زندہ کر کے اٹھائے جائیں گے

And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected

Yawma la yanfaAAu malun wala banoona

جبکہ نہ مال کوئی فائدہ دے گا نہ اولاد

The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children

Illa man ata Allaha biqalbin saleemin

بجز اس کے کہ کوئی شخص قلب سلیم لیے ہوئے اللہ کے حضور حاضر ہو

But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart

Waozlifati aljannatu lilmuttaqeena

(اس روز) جنت پرہیزگاروں کے قریب لے آئی جائے گی

And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous

Waburrizati aljaheemu lilghaweena

اور دوزخ بہکے ہوئے لوگوں کے سامنے کھول دی جائے گی

And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators

Waqeela lahum ayna ma kuntum taAAbudoona

اور ان سے پوچھا جائے گا کہ "اب کہاں ہیں وہ جن کی تم خدا کو چھوڑ کر عبادت کیا کرتے تھے؟

And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship

Min dooni Allahi hal yansuroonakum aw yantasiroona

کیا وہ تمہاری کچھ مدد کر رہے ہیں یا خود اپنا بچاؤ کر سکتے ہیں؟

Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves

Fakubkiboo feeha hum waalghawoona

پھر وہ معبود اور یہ بہکے ہوئے لوگ

So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators

Wajunoodu ibleesa ajmaAAoona

اور ابلیس کے لشکر سب کے سب اس میں اُوپر تلے دھکیل دیے جائیں گے

And the soldiers of Iblees, all together

Qaloo wahum feeha yakhtasimoona

وہاں یہ سب آپس میں جھگڑیں گے اور یہ بہکے ہوئے لوگ (اپنے معبودوں سے) کہیں گے

They will say while they dispute therein

TaAllahi in kunna lafee dalalin mubeenin

کہ "خدا کی قسم، ہم تو صریح گمراہی میں مبتلا تھے

By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error

Ith nusawweekum birabbi alAAalameena

جبکہ تم کو رب العالمین کی برابری کا درجہ دے رہے تھے

When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds

Wama adallana illa almujrimoona

اور وہ مجرم لوگ ہی تھے جنہوں نے ہم کو اس گمراہی میں ڈالا

And no one misguided us except the criminals

Fama lana min shafiAAeena

اب نہ ہمارا کوئی سفارشی ہے

So now we have no intercessors

Wala sadeeqin hameemin

اور نہ کوئی جگری دوست

And not a devoted friend

Falaw anna lana karratan fanakoona mina almumineena

کاش ہمیں ایک دفعہ پھر پلٹنے کا موقع مل جائے تو ہم مومن ہوں

Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers

Inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mumineena

یقیناً اس میں ایک بڑی نشانی ہے، مگر ان میں سے اکثر لوگ ایمان لانے والے نہیں

Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers

Wainna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu

اور حقیقت یہ ہے کہ تیرا رب زبردست بھی ہے اور رحیم بھی

And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful

Kaththabat qawmu noohin almursaleena

قوم نوحؑ نے رسولوں کو جھٹلایا

The people of Noah denied the messengers

Ith qala lahum akhoohum noohun ala tattaqoona

یاد کرو جبکہ ان کے بھائی نوحؑ نے ان سے کہا تھا "کیا تم ڈرتے نہیں ہو؟

When their brother Noah said to them, "Will you not fear Allah

Innee lakum rasoolun ameenun

میں تمہارے لیے ایک امانت دار رسول ہوں

Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger

Faittaqoo Allaha waateeAAooni

لہٰذا تم اللہ سے ڈرو اور میری اطاعت کرو

So fear Allah and obey me

Wama asalukum AAalayhi min ajrin in ajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameena

میں اس کام پر تم سے کسی اجر کا طالب نہیں ہوں میرا اجر تو رب العالمین کے ذمہ ہے

And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds

Faittaqoo Allaha waateeAAooni

پس تم اللہ سے ڈرو اور (بے کھٹکے) میری اطاعت کرو

So fear Allah and obey me

Qaloo anuminu laka waittabaAAaka alarthaloona

انہوں نے جواب دیا "“کیا ہم تجھے مان لیں حالانکہ تیری پیروی رذیل ترین لوگوں نے اختیار کی ہے؟

They said, "Should we believe you while you are followed by the lowest [class of people]

Qala wama AAilmee bima kanoo yaAAmaloona

نوحؑ نے کہا "میں کیا جانوں کہ ان کے عمل کیسے ہیں

He said, "And what is my knowledge of what they used to do

In hisabuhum illa AAala rabbee law tashAAuroona

ان کا حساب تو میرے رب کے ذمہ ہے، کاش تم کچھ شعور سے کام لو

Their account is only upon my Lord, if you [could] perceive

Wama ana bitaridi almumineena

میرا یہ کام نہیں ہے کہ جو ایمان لائیں ان کو میں دھتکار دوں

And I am not one to drive away the believers

In ana illa natheerun mubeenun

میں تو بس ایک صاف صاف متنبہ کر دینے والا آدمی ہوں

I am only a clear warner

Qaloo lain lam tantahi ya noohu latakoonanna mina almarjoomeena

انہوں نے کہا "اے نوحؑ، اگر تو باز نہ آیا تو پھٹکارے ہوئے لوگوں میں شامل ہو کر رہے گا

They said, "If you do not desist, O Noah, you will surely be of those who are stoned

Qala rabbi inna qawmee kaththabooni

نوحؑ نے دعا کی "“اے میرے رب، میری قوم نے مجھے جھٹلا دیا

He said, "My Lord, indeed my people have denied me

Faiftah baynee wabaynahum fathan wanajjinee waman maAAiya mina almumineena

اب میرے اور ان کے درمیان دو ٹوک فیصلہ کر دے اور مجھے اور جو مومن میرے ساتھ ہیں ان کو نجات دے

Then judge between me and them with decisive judgement and save me and those with me of the believers

Faanjaynahu waman maAAahu fee alfulki almashhooni

آخرکار ہم نے اس کو اور اس کے ساتھیوں کو ایک بھری ہوئی کشتی میں بچا لیا

So We saved him and those with him in the laden ship

Thumma aghraqna baAAdu albaqeena

اور اس کے بعد باقی لوگوں کو غرق کر دیا

Then We drowned thereafter the remaining ones

Inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mumineena

یقیناً اس میں ایک نشانی ہے، مگر ان میں سے اکثر لوگ ماننے والے نہیں

Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers

Wainna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu

اور حقیقت یہ ہے کہ تیرا رب زبردست بھی ہے اور رحیم بھی

And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful

Kaththabat AAadun almursaleena

عاد نے رسولوں کو جھٹلایا

Aad denied the messengers

Ith qala lahum akhoohum hoodun ala tattaqoona

یاد کرو جبکہ ان کے بھائی ہودؑ نے ان سے کہا تھا "کیا تم ڈرتے نہیں؟

When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah

Innee lakum rasoolun ameenun

میں تمہارے لیے ایک امانت دار رسول ہوں

Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger

Faittaqoo Allaha waateeAAooni

لہٰذا تم اللہ سے ڈرو اور میری اطاعت کرو

So fear Allah and obey me

Wama asalukum AAalayhi min ajrin in ajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameena

میں اس کام پر تم سے کسی اجر کا طالب نہیں ہوں میرا اجر تو رب العالمین کے ذمہ ہے

And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds

Atabnoona bikulli reeAAin ayatan taAAbathoona

یہ تمہارا کیا حال ہے کہ ہر اونچے مقام پر لا حاصل ایک یادگار عمارت بنا ڈالتے ہو

Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves

Watattakhithoona masaniAAa laAAallakum takhludoona

اور بڑے بڑے قصر تعمیر کرتے ہو گویا تمہیں ہمیشہ رہنا ہے

And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally

Waitha batashtum batashtum jabbareena

اور جب کسی پر ہاتھ ڈالتے ہو جبّار بن کر ڈالتے ہو

And when you strike, you strike as tyrants

Faittaqoo Allaha waateeAAooni

پس تم لوگ اللہ سے ڈرو اور میری اطاعت کرو

So fear Allah and obey me

Waittaqoo allathee amaddakum bima taAAlamoona

ڈرو اُس سے جس نے وہ کچھ تمہیں دیا ہے جو تم جانتے ہو

And fear He who provided you with that which you know

Amaddakum bianAAamin wabaneena

تمہیں جانور دیے، اولادیں دیں

Provided you with grazing livestock and children

Wajannatin waAAuyoonin

باغ دیے اور چشمے دیے

And gardens and springs

Innee akhafu AAalaykum AAathaba yawmin AAatheemin

مجھے تمہارے حق میں ایک بڑے دن کے عذاب کا ڈر ہے

Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day

Qaloo sawaon AAalayna awaAAathta am lam takun mina alwaAAitheena

انہوں نے جواب دیا "تو نصیحت کر یا نہ کر، ہمارے لیے یکساں ہے

They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors

In hatha illa khuluqu alawwaleena

یہ باتیں تو یوں ہی ہوتی چلی آئی ہیں

This is not but the custom of the former peoples

Wama nahnu bimuAAaththabeena

اور ہم عذاب میں مُبتلا ہونے والے نہیں ہیں

And we are not to be punished

Fakaththaboohu faahlaknahum inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mumineena

آخرکار انہوں نے اُسے جھٹلا دیا اور ہم نے ان کو ہلاک کر دیا یقیناً اس میں ایک نشانی ہے، مگر ان میں سے اکثر لوگ ماننے والے نہیں ہیں

And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers

Wainna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu

اور حقیقت یہ ہے کہ تیرا رب زبردست بھی ہے اور رحیم بھی

And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful

Kaththabat thamoodu almursaleena

ثمود نے رسولوں کو جھٹلایا

Thamud denied the messengers

Ith qala lahum akhoohum salihun ala tattaqoona

یاد کرو جبکہ ان کے بھائی صالحؑ نے ان سے کہا "کیا تم ڈرتے نہیں؟

When their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear Allah

Innee lakum rasoolun ameenun

میں تمہارے لیے ایک امانت دار رسول ہوں

Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger

Faittaqoo Allaha waateeAAooni

لہٰذا تم اللہ سے ڈرو اور میری اطاعت کرو

So fear Allah and obey me

Wama asalukum AAalayhi min ajrin in ajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameena

میں اس کام پر تم سے کسی اجر کا طالب نہیں، میرا اجر تو رب العالمین کے ذمہ ہے

And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds

Atutrakoona fee ma hahuna amineena

کیا تم اُن سب چیزوں کے درمیان، جو یہاں ہیں، بس یوں ہی اطمینان سے رہنے دیے جاؤ گے؟

Will you be left in what is here, secure [from death]

Fee jannatin waAAuyoonin

اِن باغوں اور چشموں میں؟

Within gardens and springs

WazurooAAin wanakhlin talAAuha hadeemun

اِن کھیتوں اور نخلستانوں میں جن کے خوشے رس بھرے ہیں؟

And fields of crops and palm trees with softened fruit

Watanhitoona mina aljibali buyootan fariheena

تم پہاڑ کھود کھود کر فخریہ اُن میں عمارتیں بناتے ہو

And you carve out of the mountains, homes, with skill

Faittaqoo Allaha waateeAAooni

اللہ سے ڈرو اور میری اطاعت کرو

So fear Allah and obey me

Wala tuteeAAoo amra almusrifeena

اُن بے لگام لوگوں کی اطاعت نہ کرو

And do not obey the order of the transgressors

Allatheena yufsidoona fee alardi wala yuslihoona

جو زمین میں فساد برپا کرتے ہیں اور کوئی اصلاح نہیں کرتے

Who cause corruption in the land and do not amend

Qaloo innama anta mina almusahhareena

انہوں نے جواب دیا "تو محض ایک سحر زدہ آدمی ہے

They said, "You are only of those affected by magic

Ma anta illa basharun mithluna fati biayatin in kunta mina alssadiqeena

تو ہم جیسے ایک انسان کے سوا اور کیا ہے لا کوئی نشانی اگر تو سچّا ہے

You are but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be of the truthful

Qala hathihi naqatun laha shirbun walakum shirbu yawmin maAAloomin

صالحؑ نے کہا "یہ اونٹنی ہے ایک دن اس کے پینے کا ہے اور ایک دن تم سب کے پانی لینے کا

He said, "This is a she-camel. For her is a [time of] drink, and for you is a [time of] drink, [each] on a known day

Wala tamassooha bisooin fayakhuthakum AAathabu yawmin AAatheemin

اس کو ہرگز نہ چھیڑنا ورنہ ایک بڑے دن کا عذاب تم کو آ لے گا

And do not touch her with harm, lest you be seized by the punishment of a terrible day

FaAAaqarooha faasbahoo nadimeena

مگر انہوں نے اس کی کوچیں کاٹ دیں اور آخرکار پچھتاتے رہ گئے

But they hamstrung her and so became regretful

Faakhathahumu alAAathabu inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mumineena

عذاب نے انہیں آ لیا یقیناً اس میں ایک نشانی ہے، مگر ان میں سے اکثر ماننے والے نہیں

And the punishment seized them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers

Wainna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu

اور حقیقت یہ ہے کہ تیرا رب زبردست بھی ہے اور رحیم بھی

And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful

Kaththabat qawmu lootin almursaleena

لوطؑ کی قوم نے رسولوں کو جھٹلایا

The people of Lot denied the messengers

Ith qala lahum akhoohum lootun ala tattaqoona

یاد کرو جبکہ ان کے بھائی لوطؑ نے ان سے کہا تھا "کیا تم ڈرتے نہیں؟

When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear Allah

Innee lakum rasoolun ameenun

میں تمہارے لیے ایک امانت دار رسول ہوں

Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger

Faittaqoo Allaha waateeAAooni

لہٰذا تم اللہ سے ڈرو اور میری اطاعت کرو

So fear Allah and obey me

Wama asalukum AAalayhi min ajrin in ajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameena

میں اس کام پر تم سے کسی اجر کا طالب نہیں ہوں، میرا اجر تو رب العالمین کے ذمہ ہے

And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds

Atatoona alththukrana mina alAAalameena

کیا تم دنیا کی مخلوق میں سے مَردوں کے پاس جاتے ہو

Do you approach males among the worlds

Watatharoona ma khalaqa lakum rabbukum min azwajikum bal antum qawmun AAadoona

اور تمہاری بیویوں میں تمہارے رب نے تمہارے لیے جو کچھ پیدا کیا ہے اسے چھوڑ دیتے ہو؟ بلکہ تم لوگ تو حد سے ہی گزر گئے ہو

And leave what your Lord has created for you as mates? But you are a people transgressing

Qaloo lain lam tantahi ya lootu latakoonanna mina almukhrajeena

انہوں نے کہا “اے لوطؑ، "اگر تو اِن باتوں سے باز نہ آیا تو جو لوگ ہماری بستیوں سے نکالے گئے ہیں اُن میں تو بھی شامل ہو کر رہے گا

They said, "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted

Qala innee liAAamalikum mina alqaleena

اس نے کہا "تمہارے کرتوتوں پر جو لوگ کُڑھ رہے ہیں میں اُن میں شامل ہوں

He said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who detest [it]

Rabbi najjinee waahlee mimma yaAAmaloona

اے پروردگار، مجھے اور میرے اہل و عیال کو ان کی بد کرداریوں سے نجات دے

My Lord, save me and my family from [the consequence of] what they do

Fanajjaynahu waahlahu ajmaAAeena

آخرکار ہم نے اسے اور اس کے سب اہل و عیال کو بچا لیا

So We saved him and his family, all

Illa AAajoozan fee alghabireena

بجز ایک بڑھیا کے جو پیچھے رہ جانے والوں میں تھی

Except an old woman among those who remained behind

Thumma dammarna alakhareena

پھر باقی ماندہ لوگوں کو ہم نے تباہ کر دیا

Then We destroyed the others

Waamtarna AAalayhim mataran fasaa mataru almunthareena

اور ان پر برسائی ایک برسات، بڑی ہی بُری بارش تھی جو اُن ڈرائے جانے والوں پر نازل ہوئی

And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned

Inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mumineena

یقیناً اس میں ایک نشانی ہے، مگر اِن میں سے اکثر ماننے والے نہیں

Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers

Wainna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu

اور حقیقت یہ ہے کہ تیرا رب زبردست بھی ہے اور رحیم بھی

And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful

Kaththaba ashabu alaykati almursaleena

اصحاب الاَیکہ نے رسولوں کو جھٹلایا

The companions of the thicket denied the messengers

Ith qala lahum shuAAaybun ala tattaqoona

یاد کرو جبکہ شعیبؑ نے ان سے کہا تھا "کیا تم ڈرتے نہیں؟

When Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear Allah

Innee lakum rasoolun ameenun

میں تمہارے لیے ایک امانت دار رسول ہوں

Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger

Faittaqoo Allaha waateeAAooni

لہٰذا تم اللہ سے ڈرو اور میری اطاعت کرو

So fear Allah and obey me

Wama asalukum AAalayhi min ajrin in ajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameena

میں اس کام پر تم سے کسی اجر کا طالب نہیں ہوں میرا اجر تو رب العالمین کے ذمہ ہے

And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds

Awfoo alkayla wala takoonoo mina almukhsireena

پیمانے ٹھیک بھرو اور کسی کو گھاٹا نہ دو

Give full measure and do not be of those who cause loss

Wazinoo bialqistasi almustaqeemi

صحیح ترازو سے تولو

And weigh with an even balance

Wala tabkhasoo alnnasa ashyaahum wala taAAthaw fee alardi mufsideena

اور لوگوں کو ان کی چیزیں کم نہ دو زمین میں فساد نہ پھیلاتے پھرو

And do not deprive people of their due and do not commit abuse on earth, spreading corruption

Waittaqoo allathee khalaqakum waaljibillata alawwaleena

اور اُس ذات کا خوف کرو جس نے تمہیں اور گزشتہ نسلوں کو پیدا کیا ہے

And fear He who created you and the former creation

Qaloo innama anta mina almusahhareena

انہوں نے کہا "تو محض ایک سحرزدہ آدمی ہے

They said, "You are only of those affected by magic

Wama anta illa basharun mithluna wain nathunnuka lamina alkathibeena

اور تو کچھ نہیں مگر ایک انسان ہم ہی جیسا، اور ہم تو تجھے بالکل جھوٹا سمجھتے ہیں

You are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars

Faasqit AAalayna kisafan mina alssamai in kunta mina alssadiqeena

اگر تو سچا ہے تو ہم پر آسمان کا کوئی ٹکڑا گرا دے

So cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky, if you should be of the truthful

Qala rabbee aAAlamu bima taAAmaloona

شعیبؑ نے کہا "میرا رب جانتا ہے جو کچھ تم کر رہے ہو

He said, "My Lord is most knowing of what you do

Fakaththaboohu faakhathahum AAathabu yawmi alththullati innahu kana AAathaba yawmin AAatheemin

انہوں نے اسے جھٹلا دیا، آخرکار چھتری والے دن کا عذاب ان پر آ گیا، اور وہ بڑے ہی خوفناک دن کا عذاب تھا

And they denied him, so the punishment of the day of the black cloud seized them. Indeed, it was the punishment of a terrible day

Inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mumineena

یقیناً اس میں ایک نشانی ہے، مگر ان میں سے اکثر لوگ ماننے والے نہیں

Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers

Wainna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu

اور حقیقت یہ ہے کہ تیرا رب زبردست بھی ہے اور رحیم بھی

And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful

Wainnahu latanzeelu rabbi alAAalameena

یہ رب العالمین کی نازل کردہ چیز ہے

And indeed, the Qur'an is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds

Nazala bihi alrroohu alameenu

اسے لے کر تیرے دل پر امانت دار روح اتری ہے

The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down

AAala qalbika litakoona mina almunthireena

تاکہ تو اُن لوگوں میں شامل ہو جو (خدا کی طرف سے خلق خدا کو) متنبّہ کرنے والے ہیں

Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners

Bilisanin AAarabiyyin mubeenin

صاف صاف عربی زبان میں

In a clear Arabic language

Wainnahu lafee zuburi alawwaleena

اور اگلے لوگوں کی کتابوں میں بھی یہ موجود ہے

And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples

Awalam yakun lahum ayatan an yaAAlamahu AAulamao banee israeela

کیا اِن (اہلِ مکہ) کے لیے یہ کوئی نشانی نہیں ہے کہ اِسے علماء بنی اسرائیل جانتے ہیں؟

And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel

Walaw nazzalnahu AAala baAAdi alaAAjameena

(لیکن اِن کی ہٹ دھرمی کا حال یہ ہے کہ) اگر اہم اسے کسی عجمی پر بھی نازل کر دیتے

And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners

Faqaraahu AAalayhim ma kanoo bihi mumineena

اور یہ (فصیح عربی کلام) وہ ان کو پڑھ کر سناتا تب بھی یہ مان کر نہ دیتے

And he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it

Kathalika salaknahu fee quloobi almujrimeena

اِسی طرح ہم نے اس (ذکر) کو مجرموں کے دلوں میں گزارا ہے

Thus have We inserted disbelief into the hearts of the criminals

La yuminoona bihi hatta yarawoo alAAathaba alaleema

وہ اس پر ایمان نہیں لاتے جب تک عذاب الیم نہ دیکھ لیں

They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment

Fayatiyahum baghtatan wahum la yashAAuroona

پھر جب وہ بے خبری میں ان پر آ پڑتا ہے

And it will come to them suddenly while they perceive [it] not

Fayaqooloo hal nahnu muntharoona

اُس وقت وہ کہتے ہیں "کہ “کیا اب ہمیں کچھ مُہلت مِل سکتی ہے؟

And they will say, "May we be reprieved

AfabiAAathabina yastaAAjiloona

تو کیا یہ لوگ ہمارے عذاب کے لیے جلدی مچا رہے ہیں؟

So for Our punishment are they impatient

Afaraayta in mattaAAnahum sineena

تم نے کچھ غور کیا، اگر ہم انہیں برسوں تک عیش کرنے کی مُہلت بھی دے دیں

Then have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years

Thumma jaahum ma kanoo yooAAadoona

اور پھر وہی چیز ان پر آ جائے جس سے انہیں ڈرایا جا رہا ہے

And then there came to them that which they were promised

Ma aghna AAanhum ma kanoo yumattaAAoona

تو وہ سامانِ زیست جو ان کو ملا ہوا ہے اِن کے کس کام آئے گا؟

They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided

Wama ahlakna min qaryatin illa laha munthiroona

(دیکھو) ہم نے کبھی کسی بستی کو اِس کے بغیر ہلاک نہیں کیا کہ اُس کے لیے خبردار کرنے والے حق نصیحت ادا کرنے کو موجود تھے

And We did not destroy any city except that it had warners

Thikra wama kunna thalimeena

اور ہم ظالم نہ تھے

As a reminder; and never have We been unjust

Wama tanazzalat bihi alshshayateenu

اِس (کتاب مبین) کو شیاطین لے کر نہیں اترے ہیں

And the devils have not brought the revelation down

Wama yanbaghee lahum wama yastateeAAoona

نہ یہ کام ان کو سجتا ہے، اور نہ وہ ایسا کر ہی سکتے ہیں

It is not allowable for them, nor would they be able

Innahum AAani alssamAAi lamaAAzooloona

وہ تو اس کی سماعت تک سے دُور رکھے گئے ہیں

Indeed they, from [its] hearing, are removed

Fala tadAAu maAAa Allahi ilahan akhara fatakoona mina almuAAaththabeena

پس اے محمدؐ، اللہ کے ساتھ کسی دُوسرے معبُود کو نہ پکارو، ورنہ تم بھی سزا پانے والوں میں شامل ہو جاؤ گے

So do not invoke with Allah another deity and [thus] be among the punished

Waanthir AAasheerataka alaqrabeena

اپنے قریب ترین رشتہ داروں کو ڈراؤ

And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred

Waikhfid janahaka limani ittabaAAaka mina almumineena

اور ایمان لانے والوں میں سے جو لوگ تمہاری پیروی اختیار کریں ان کے ساتھ تواضع سے پیش آؤ

And lower your wing to those who follow you of the believers

Fain AAasawka faqul innee bareeon mimma taAAmaloona

لیکن اگر وہ تمہاری نافرمانی کریں تو ان سے کہو کہ جو کچھ تم کرتے ہو اس سے میں بری الذ مہ ہوں

And if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing

Watawakkal AAala alAAazeezi alrraheemi

اور اُس زبردست اور رحیم پر توکل کرو

And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful

Allathee yaraka heena taqoomu

جو تمہیں اس وقت دیکھ رہا ہوتا ہے جب تم اٹھتے ہو

Who sees you when you arise

Wataqallubaka fee alssajideena

اور سجدہ گزار لوگوں میں تمہاری نقل و حرکت پر نگاہ رکھتا ہے

And your movement among those who prostrate

Innahu huwa alssameeAAu alAAaleemu

وہ سب کچھ سننے اور جاننے والا ہے

Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing

Hal onabbiokum AAala man tanazzalu alshshayateenu

لوگو، کیا میں تمہیں بتاؤں کہ شیاطین کس پر اُترا کرتے ہیں؟

Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend

Tanazzalu AAala kulli affakin atheemin

وہ ہر جعل ساز بدکار پر اُترا کرتے ہیں

They descend upon every sinful liar

Yulqoona alssamAAa waaktharuhum kathiboona

سُنی سُنائی باتیں کانوں میں پھونکتے ہیں، اور ان میں سے اکثر جھوٹے ہوتے ہیں

They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars

WaalshshuAAarao yattabiAAuhumu alghawoona

رہے شعراء، تو ان کے پیچھے بہکے ہوئے لوگ چلا کرتے ہیں

And the poets - [only] the deviators follow them

Alam tara annahum fee kulli wadin yaheemoona

کیا تم دیکھتے نہیں ہو کہ وہ ہر وادی میں بھٹکتے ہیں

Do you not see that in every valley they roam

Waannahum yaqooloona ma la yafAAaloona

اور ایسی باتیں کہتے ہیں جو کرتے نہیں

And that they say what they do not do

Illa allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati wathakaroo Allaha katheeran waintasaroo min baAAdi ma thulimoo wasayaAAlamu allatheena thalamoo ayya munqalabin yanqaliboona

بجز اُن لوگوں کے جو ایمان لائے اور جنہوں نے نیک عمل کیے اور اللہ کو کثرت سے یاد کیا اور جب ان پر ظلم کیا گیا تو صرف بدلہ لے لیا، اور ظلم کرنے والوں کو عنقریب معلوم ہو جائے گا کہ وہ کس انجام سے دوچار ہوتے ہیں

Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned

Taseen tilka ayatu alqurani wakitabin mubeenin

ط س یہ آیات ہیں قرآن اور کتاب مبین کی

Ta, Seen. These are the verses of the Qur'an and a clear Book

Hudan wabushra lilmumineena

ہدایت اور بشارت اُن ایمان لانے والوں کے لیے

As guidance and good tidings for the believers

Allatheena yuqeemoona alssalata wayutoona alzzakata wahum bialakhirati hum yooqinoona

جو نماز قائم کرتے اور زکوٰۃ دیتے ہیں، اور پھر وہ ایسے لوگ ہیں جو آخرت پر پورا یقین رکھتے ہیں

Who establish prayer and give zakah, and of the Hereafter they are certain [in faith]

Inna allatheena la yuminoona bialakhirati zayyanna lahum aAAmalahum fahum yaAAmahoona

حقیقت یہ ہے کہ جو لوگ آخرت کو نہیں مانتے ان کے لیے ہم نے اُن کے کرتوتوں کو خوشنما بنا دیا ہے، اس لیے وہ بھٹکتے پھر رہے ہیں

Indeed, for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, We have made pleasing to them their deeds, so they wander blindly

Olaika allatheena lahum sooo alAAathabi wahum fee alakhirati humu alakhsaroona

یہ وہ لوگ ہیں جن کے لیے بُری سزا ہے اور آخرت میں یہی سب سے زیادہ خسارے میں رہنے والے ہیں

Those are the ones for whom there will be the worst of punishment, and in the Hereafter they are the greatest losers

Wainnaka latulaqqa alqurana min ladun hakeemin AAaleemin

اور (اے محمدؐ) بلاشبہ تم یہ قرآن ایک حکیم و علیم ہستی کی طرف سے پا رہے ہو

And indeed, [O Muhammad], you receive the Qur'an from one Wise and Knowing

Ith qala moosa liahlihi innee anastu naran saateekum minha bikhabarin aw ateekum bishihabin qabasin laAAallakum tastaloona

(اِنہیں اُس وقت کا قصہ سناؤ) جب موسیٰؑ نے اپنے گھر والوں سے کہا کہ "مجھے ایک آگ سی نظر آئی ہے، میں ابھی یا تو وہاں سے کوئی خبر لے کر آتا ہوں یا کوئی انگارا چن لاتا ہوں تاکہ تم لوگ گرم ہو سکو

[Mention] when Moses said to his family, "Indeed, I have perceived a fire. I will bring you from there information or will bring you a burning torch that you may warm yourselves

Falamma jaaha noodiya an boorika man fee alnnari waman hawlaha wasubhana Allahi rabbi alAAalameena

وہاں جو پہنچا تو ندا آئی کہ "مبارک ہے وہ جو اس آگ میں ہے اور جو اس کے ماحول میں ہے پاک ہے اللہ، سب جہانوں کا پروردگار

But when he came to it, he was called, "Blessed is whoever is at the fire and whoever is around it. And exalted is Allah, Lord of the worlds

Ya moosa innahu ana Allahu alAAazeezu alhakeemu

اے موسیٰؑ، یہ میں ہوں اللہ، زبردست اور دانا

O Moses, indeed it is I - Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Wise

Waalqi AAasaka falamma raaha tahtazzu kaannaha jannun walla mudbiran walam yuAAaqqib ya moosa la takhaf innee la yakhafu ladayya almursaloona

اور پھینک تو ذرا اپنی لاٹھی" جونہی کہ موسیٰؑ نے دیکھا لاٹھی سانپ کی طرح بل کھا رہی ہے تو پیٹھ پھیر کر بھاگا اور پیچھے مڑ کر بھی نہ دیکھا "اے موسیٰؑ، ڈرو نہیں میرے حضور رسول ڈرا نہیں کرتے

And [he was told], "Throw down your staff." But when he saw it writhing as if it were a snake, he turned in flight and did not return. [Allah said], "O Moses, fear not. Indeed, in My presence the messengers do not fear

Illa man thalama thumma baddala husnan baAAda sooin fainnee ghafoorun raheemun

اِلّا یہ کہ کسی نے قصور کیا ہو پھر اگر برائی کے بعد اُس نے بھَلائی سے اپنے فعل کو بدل لیا تو میں معاف کرنے والا مہربان ہوں

Otherwise, he who wrongs, then substitutes good after evil - indeed, I am Forgiving and Merciful

Waadkhil yadaka fee jaybika takhruj baydaa min ghayri sooin fee tisAAi ayatin ila firAAawna waqawmihi innahum kanoo qawman fasiqeena

اور ذرا اپنا ہاتھ اپنے گریبان میں تو ڈالو چمکتا ہوا نکلے گا بغیر کسی تکلیف کے یہ (دو نشانیاں) نو نشانیوں میں سے ہیں فرعون اور اس کی قوم کی طرف (لے جانے کے لیے)، وہ بڑے بد کردار لوگ ہیں

And put your hand into the opening of your garment [at the breast]; it will come out white without disease. [These are] among the nine signs [you will take] to Pharaoh and his people. Indeed, they have been a people defiantly disobedient

Falamma jaathum ayatuna mubsiratan qaloo hatha sihrun mubeenun

مگر جب ہماری کھلی کھلی نشانیاں اُن لوگوں کے سامنے آئیں تو انہوں نے کہا یہ تو کھلا جادو ہے

But when there came to them Our visible signs, they said, "This is obvious magic

Wajahadoo biha waistayqanatha anfusuhum thulman waAAuluwwan faonthur kayfa kana AAaqibatu almufsideena

انہوں نے سراسر ظلم اور غرور کی راہ سے ان نشانیوں کا انکار کیا حالانکہ دل ان کے قائل ہو چکے تھے اب دیکھ لو کہ ان مفسدوں کا انجام کیسا ہوا

And they rejected them, while their [inner] selves were convinced thereof, out of injustice and haughtiness. So see how was the end of the corrupters

Walaqad atayna dawooda wasulaymana AAilman waqala alhamdu lillahi allathee faddalana AAala katheerin min AAibadihi almumineena

(دوسری طرف) ہم نے داؤدؑ و سلیمانؑ کو علم عطا کیا اور انہوں نے کہا کہ شکر ہے اُس خدا کا جس نے ہم کو اپنے بہت سے مومن بندوں پر فضیلت عطا کی

And We had certainly given to David and Solomon knowledge, and they said, "Praise [is due] to Allah, who has favored us over many of His believing servants

Wawaritha sulaymanu dawooda waqala ya ayyuha alnnasu AAullimna mantiqa alttayri waooteena min kulli shayin inna hatha lahuwa alfadlu almubeenu

اور داؤدؑ کا وارث سلیمانؑ ہوا اور اس نے کہا "“لوگو، ہمیں پرندوں کی بولیاں سکھائی گئی ہیں اور ہمیں ہر طرح کی چیزیں دی گئی ہیں، بیشک یہ (اللہ کا) نمایاں فضل ہے

And Solomon inherited David. He said, "O people, we have been taught the language of birds, and we have been given from all things. Indeed, this is evident bounty

Wahushira lisulaymana junooduhu mina aljinni waalinsi waalttayri fahum yoozaAAoona

سلیمانؑ کے لیے جن اور انسانوں اور پرندوں کے لشکر جمع کیے گئے تھے اور وہ پورے ضبط میں رکھے جاتے تھے

And gathered for Solomon were his soldiers of the jinn and men and birds, and they were [marching] in rows

Hatta itha ataw AAala wadi alnnamli qalat namlatun ya ayyuha alnnamlu odkhuloo masakinakum la yahtimannakum sulaymanu wajunooduhu wahum la yashAAuroona

(ایک مرتبہ وہ ان کے ساتھ کوچ کر رہا تھا) یہاں تک کہ جب یہ سب چیونٹیوں کی وادی میں پہنچے تو ایک چیونٹی نے کہا "“اے چیونٹیو، اپنے بلوں میں گھس جاؤ، کہیں ایسا نہ ہو کہ سلیمانؑ اور اس کے لشکر تمہیں کچل ڈالیں اور انہیں خبر بھی نہ ہو

Until, when they came upon the valley of the ants, an ant said, "O ants, enter your dwellings that you not be crushed by Solomon and his soldiers while they perceive not

Fatabassama dahikan min qawliha waqala rabbi awziAAnee an ashkura niAAmataka allatee anAAamta AAalayya waAAala walidayya waan aAAmala salihan tardahu waadkhilnee birahmatika fee AAibadika alssaliheena

سلیمانؑ اس کی بات پر مُسکراتے ہوئے ہنس پڑا اور بولا "اے میرے رب، مجھے قابو میں رکھ کہ میں تیرے اس احسان کا شکر ادا کرتا رہوں جو تو نے مجھ پر اور میرے والدین پر کیا ہے اور ایسا عمل صالح کروں جو تجھے پسند آئے اور اپنی رحمت سے مجھ کو اپنے صالح بندوں میں داخل کر

So [Solomon] smiled, amused at her speech, and said, "My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to do righteousness of which You approve. And admit me by Your mercy into [the ranks of] Your righteous servants

Watafaqqada alttayra faqala ma liya la ara alhudhuda am kana mina alghaibeena

(ایک اور موقع پر) سلیمانؑ نے پرندوں کا جائزہ لیا اور کہا “کیا بات ہے کہ میں فلاں ہُد ہُد کو نہیں دیکھ رہا ہوں کیا وہ کہیں غائب ہو گیا ہے؟

And he took attendance of the birds and said, "Why do I not see the hoopoe - or is he among the absent

LaoAAaththibannahu AAathaban shadeedan aw laathbahannahu aw layatiyannee bisultanin mubeenin

میں اسے سخت سزا دوں گا، یا ذبح کر دوں گا، ورنہ اسے میرے سامنے معقول وجہ پیش کرنی ہو گی

I will surely punish him with a severe punishment or slaughter him unless he brings me clear authorization

Famakatha ghayra baAAeedin faqala ahattu bima lam tuhit bihi wajituka min sabain binabain yaqeenin

کچھ زیادہ دیر نہ گزری تھی کہ اُس نے آ کر کہا "“میں نے وہ معلومات حاصل کی ہیں جو آپ کے علم میں نہیں ہیں میں سَبا کے متعلق یقینی اطلاع لے کر آیا ہوں

But the hoopoe stayed not long and said, "I have encompassed [in knowledge] that which you have not encompassed, and I have come to you from Sheba with certain news

Innee wajadtu imraatan tamlikuhum waootiyat min kulli shayin walaha AAarshun AAatheemun

میں نے وہاں ایک عورت دیکھی جو اس قوم کی حکمران ہے اُس کو ہر طرح کا ساز و سامان بخشا گیا ہے اور اس کا تخت بڑا عظیم الشان ہے

Indeed, I found [there] a woman ruling them, and she has been given of all things, and she has a great throne

Wajadtuha waqawmaha yasjudoona lilshshamsi min dooni Allahi wazayyana lahumu alshshaytanu aAAmalahum fasaddahum AAani alssabeeli fahum la yahtadoona

میں نے دیکھا ہے کہ وہ اور اس کی قوم اللہ کے بجائے سورج کے آگے سجدہ کرتی ہے" شیطان نے ان کے اعمال ان کے لیے خوشنما بنا دیے اور انہیں شاہراہ سے روک دیا، اس وجہ سے وہ یہ سیدھا راستہ نہیں پاتے

I found her and her people prostrating to the sun instead of Allah, and Satan has made their deeds pleasing to them and averted them from [His] way, so they are not guided

Alla yasjudoo lillahi allathee yukhriju alkhabaa fee alssamawati waalardi wayaAAlamu ma tukhfoona wama tuAAlinoona

کہ اُس خدا کو سجدہ کریں جو آسمانوں اور زمین کی پوشیدہ چیزیں نکالتا ہے اور وہ سب کچھ جانتا ہے جسے تم لوگ چھپاتے ہو اور ظاہر کرتے ہو

[And] so they do not prostrate to Allah, who brings forth what is hidden within the heavens and the earth and knows what you conceal and what you declare

Allahu la ilaha illa huwa rabbu alAAarshi alAAatheemi

اللہ کہ جس کے سوا کوئی مستحقِ عبادت نہیں، جو عرش عظیم کا مالک ہے

Allah - there is no deity except Him, Lord of the Great Throne

Qala sananthuru asadaqta am kunta mina alkathibeena

سلیمانؑ نے کہا "ابھی ہم دیکھے لیتے ہیں کہ تو نے سچ کہا ہے یا تو جھوٹ بولنے والوں میں سے ہے

[Solomon] said, "We will see whether you were truthful or were of the liars

Ithhab bikitabee hatha faalqih ilayhim thumma tawalla AAanhum faonthur matha yarjiAAoona

میرا یہ خط لے جا اور اسے ان لوگوں کی طرف ڈال دے، پھر الگ ہٹ کر دیکھ کہ وہ کیا رد عمل ظاہر کرتے ہیں

Take this letter of mine and deliver it to them. Then leave them and see what [answer] they will return

Qalat ya ayyuha almalao innee olqiya ilayya kitabun kareemun

ملکہ بولی "اے اہلِ دربار، میری طرف ایک بڑا اہم خط پھینکا گیا ہے

She said, "O eminent ones, indeed, to me has been delivered a noble letter

Innahu min sulaymana wainnahu bismi Allahi alrrahmani alrraheemi

وہ سلیمانؑ کی جانب سے ہے اور اللہ رحمٰن و رحیم کے نام سے شروع کیا گیا ہے

Indeed, it is from Solomon, and indeed, it reads: 'In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful

Alla taAAloo AAalayya watoonee muslimeena

مضمون یہ ہے کہ “میرے مقابلے میں سرکشی نہ کرو اور مسلم ہو کر میرے پاس حاضر ہو جاؤ

Be not haughty with me but come to me in submission [as Muslims]

Qalat ya ayyuha almalao aftoonee fee amree ma kuntu qatiAAatan amran hatta tashhadoona

(خط سُنا کر) ملکہ نے کہا "“اے سردارانِ قوم میرے اس معاملے میں مجھے مشورہ دو، میں کسی معاملہ کا فیصلہ تمہارے بغیر نہیں کرتی ہوں

She said, "O eminent ones, advise me in my affair. I would not decide a matter until you witness [for] me

Qaloo nahnu oloo quwwatin waoloo basin shadeedin waalamru ilayki faonthuree matha tamureena

اُنہوں نے جواب دیا "ہم طاقت ور اور لڑنے والے لوگ ہیں آگے فیصلہ آپ کے ہاتھ میں ہے آپ خود دیکھ لیں کہ آپ کو کیا حکم دینا ہے

They said, "We are men of strength and of great military might, but the command is yours, so see what you will command

Qalat inna almulooka itha dakhaloo qaryatan afsadooha wajaAAaloo aAAizzata ahliha athillatan wakathalika yafAAaloona

ملکہ نے کہا کہ "بادشاہ جب کسی مُلک میں گھس آتے ہیں تو اسے خراب اور اس کے عزت والوں کو ذلیل کر دیتے ہیں یہی کچھ وہ کیا کرتے ہیں

She said, "Indeed kings - when they enter a city, they ruin it and render the honored of its people humbled. And thus do they do

Wainnee mursilatun ilayhim bihadiyyatin fanathiratun bima yarjiAAu almursaloona

میں اِن لوگوں کی طرف ایک ہدیہ بھیجتی ہوں، پھر دیکھتی ہوں کہ میرے ایلچی کیا جواب لے کر پلٹتے ہیں

But indeed, I will send to them a gift and see with what [reply] the messengers will return

Falamma jaa sulaymana qala atumiddoonani bimalin fama ataniya Allahu khayrun mimma atakum bal antum bihadiyyatikum tafrahoona

جب وہ (ملکہ کا سفیر) سلیمانؑ کے ہاں پہنچا تو اس نے کہا "کیا تم لوگ مال سے میری مدد کرنا چاہتے ہو؟ جو کچھ خدا نے مجھے دے رکھا ہے وہ اس سے بہت زیادہ ہے جو تمہیں دیا ہے تمہارا ہدیہ تمہی کو مبارک رہے

So when they came to Solomon, he said, "Do you provide me with wealth? But what Allah has given me is better than what He has given you. Rather, it is you who rejoice in your gift

IrjiAA ilayhim falanatiyannahum bijunoodin la qibala lahum biha walanukhrijannahum minha athillatan wahum saghiroona

(اے سفیر) واپس جا اپنے بھیجنے والوں کی طرف ہم ان پر ایسے لشکر لے کر آئیں گے جن کا مقابلہ وہ نہ کر سکیں گے اور ہم انہیں ایسی ذلت کے ساتھ وہاں سے نکالیں گے کہ وہ خوار ہو کر رہ جائیں گے

Return to them, for we will surely come to them with soldiers that they will be powerless to encounter, and we will surely expel them therefrom in humiliation, and they will be debased

Qala ya ayyuha almalao ayyukum yateenee biAAarshiha qabla an yatoonee muslimeena

سلیمانؑ نے کہا "“اے اہل دربار، تم میں سے کون اس کا تخت میرے پاس لاتا ہے قبل اس کے کہ وہ لوگ مطیع ہو کر میرے پاس حاضر ہوں؟

[Solomon] said, "O assembly [of jinn], which of you will bring me her throne before they come to me in submission

Qala AAifreetun mina aljinni ana ateeka bihi qabla an taqooma min maqamika wainne AAalayhi laqawiyyun ameenun

جنوں میں سے ایک قوی ہیکل نے عرض کیا "میں اسے حاضر کر دوں گا قبل اس کے کہ آپ اپنی جگہ سے اٹھیں میں اس کی طاقت رکھتا ہوں اور امانتدار ہوں

A powerful one from among the jinn said, "I will bring it to you before you rise from your place, and indeed, I am for this [task] strong and trustworthy

Qala allathee AAindahu AAilmun mina alkitabi ana ateeka bihi qabla an yartadda ilayka tarfuka falamma raahu mustaqirran AAindahu qala hatha min fadli rabbee liyabluwanee aashkuru am akfuru waman shakara fainnama yashkuru linafsihi waman kafara fainna rabbee ghaniyyun kareemun

جس شخص کے پاس کتاب کا علم تھا وہ بولا "میں آپ کی پلک جھپکنے سے پہلے اسے لائے دیتا ہوں" جونہی کہ سلیمانؑ نے وہ تخت اپنے پاس رکھا ہوا دیکھا، وہ پکار اٹھا "یہ میرے رب کا فضل ہے تاکہ وہ مجھے آزمائے کہ میں شکر کرتا ہوں یا کافر نعمت بن جاتا ہوں اور جو کوئی شکر کرتا ہے اس کا شکر اس کے اپنے ہی لیے مفید ہے، ورنہ کوئی ناشکری کرے تو میرا رب بے نیاز اور اپنی ذات میں آپ بزرگ ہے

Said one who had knowledge from the Scripture, "I will bring it to you before your glance returns to you." And when [Solomon] saw it placed before him, he said, "This is from the favor of my Lord to test me whether I will be grateful or ungrateful. And whoever is grateful - his gratitude is only for [the benefit of] himself. And whoever is ungrateful - then indeed, my Lord is Free of need and Generous

Qala nakkiroo laha AAarshaha nanthur atahtadee am takoonu mina allatheena la yahtadoona

سلیمانؑ نے کہا "انجان طریقے سے اس کا تخت اس کے سامنے رکھ دو، دیکھیں وہ صحیح بات تک پہنچتی ہے یا اُن لوگوں میں سے ہے جو راہِ راست نہیں پاتے

He said, "Disguise for her her throne; we will see whether she will be guided [to truth] or will be of those who is not guided

Falamma jaat qeela ahakatha AAarshuki qalat kaannahu huwa waooteena alAAilma min qabliha wakunna muslimeena

ملکہ جب حاضر ہوئی تو اس سے کہا گیا کیا تیرا تخت ایسا ہی ہے؟ وہ کہنے لگی "یہ تو گویا وہی ہے ہم تو پہلے ہی جان گئے تھے اور ہم نے سرِ اطاعت جھکا دیا تھا (یا ہم مسلم ہو چکے تھے)

So when she arrived, it was said [to her], "Is your throne like this?" She said, "[It is] as though it was it." [Solomon said], "And we were given knowledge before her, and we have been Muslims [in submission to Allah]

Wasaddaha ma kanat taAAbudu min dooni Allahi innaha kanat min qawmin kafireena

اُس کو (ایمان لانے سے) جس چیز نے روک رکھا تھا وہ اُن معبودوں کی عبادت تھی جنہیں وہ اللہ کے سوا پوجتی تھی، کیونکہ وہ ایک کافر قوم سے تھی

And that which she was worshipping other than Allah had averted her [from submission to Him]. Indeed, she was from a disbelieving people

Qeela laha odkhulee alssarha falamma raathu hasibathu lujjatan wakashafat AAan saqayha qala innahu sarhun mumarradun min qawareera qalat rabbi innee thalamtu nafsee waaslamtu maAAa sulaymana lillahi rabbi alAAalameena

اس سے کہا گیا کہ محل میں داخل ہو اس نے جو دیکھا تو سمجھی کہ پانی کا حوض ہے اور اترنے کے لیے اس نے اپنے پائنچے اٹھا لیے سلیمانؑ نے کہا یہ شیشے کا چکنا فرش ہے اس پر وہ پکار اٹھی "اے میرے رب، (آج تک) میں اپنے نفس پر بڑا ظلم کرتی رہی، اور اب میں نے سلیمانؑ کے ساتھ اللہ رب العالمین کی اطاعت قبول کر لی

She was told, "Enter the palace." But when she saw it, she thought it was a body of water and uncovered her shins [to wade through]. He said, "Indeed, it is a palace [whose floor is] made smooth with glass." She said, "My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, and I submit with Solomon to Allah, Lord of the worlds

Walaqad arsalna ila thamooda akhahum salihan ani oAAbudoo Allaha faitha hum fareeqani yakhtasimoona

اور ثمود کی طرف ہم نے اُن کے بھائی صالح کو (یہ پیغام دے کر) بھیجا کہ اللہ کی بندگی کرو، تو یکایک وہ دو متخاصم فریق بن گئے

And We had certainly sent to Thamud their brother Salih, [saying], "Worship Allah," and at once they were two parties conflicting

Qala ya qawmi lima tastaAAjiloona bialssayyiati qabla alhasanati lawla tastaghfiroona Allaha laAAallakum turhamoona

صالحؑ نے کہا "“اے میری قوم کے لوگو، بھلائی سے پہلے بُرائی کے لیے کیوں جلدی مچاتے ہو؟ کیوں نہیں اللہ سے مغفرت طلب کرتے؟ شاید کہ تم پر رحم فرمایا جائے؟

He said, "O my people, why are you impatient for evil instead of good? Why do you not seek forgiveness of Allah that you may receive mercy

Qaloo ittayyarna bika wabiman maAAaka qala tairukum AAinda Allahi bal antum qawmun tuftanoona

انہوں نے کہا "ہم نے تو تم کو اور تمہارے ساتھیوں کو بد شگونی کا نشان پایا ہے" صالحؑ نے جواب دیا "“تمہارے نیک و بد شگون کا سر رشتہ تو اللہ کے پاس ہے اصل بات یہ ہے کہ تم لوگوں کی آزمائش ہو رہی ہے

They said, "We consider you a bad omen, you and those with you." He said, "Your omen is with Allah. Rather, you are a people being tested

Wakana fee almadeenati tisAAatu rahtin yufsidoona fee alardi wala yuslihoona

اُس شہر میں نو جتھے دار تھے جو ملک میں فساد پھیلاتے اور کوئی اصلاح کا کام نہ کرتے تھے

And there were in the city nine family heads causing corruption in the land and not amending [its affairs]

Qaloo taqasamoo biAllahi lanubayyitannahu waahlahu thumma lanaqoolanna liwaliyyihi ma shahidna mahlika ahlihi wainna lasadiqoona

انہوں نے آپس میں کہا "خدا کی قسم کھا کر عہد کر لو کہ ہم صالحؑ اور اس کے گھر والوں پر شب خون ماریں گے اور پھر اس کے ولی سے کہہ دیں گے کہ ہم اس خاندان کی ہلاکت کے موقع پر موجود نہ تھے، ہم بالکل سچ کہتے ہیں

They said, "Take a mutual oath by Allah that we will kill him by night, he and his family. Then we will say to his executor, 'We did not witness the destruction of his family, and indeed, we are truthful

Wamakaroo makran wamakarna makran wahum la yashAAuroona

یہ چال تو وہ چلے اور پھر ایک چال ہم نے چلی جس کی انہیں خبر نہ تھی

And they planned a plan, and We planned a plan, while they perceived not

Faonthur kayfa kana AAaqibatu makrihim anna dammarnahum waqawmahum ajmaAAeena

اب دیکھ لو کہ ان کی چال کا انجام کیا ہوا ہم نے تباہ کر کے رکھ دیا اُن کو اور ان کی پوری قوم کو

Then look how was the outcome of their plan - that We destroyed them and their people, all

Fatilka buyootuhum khawiyatan bima thalamoo inna fee thalika laayatan liqawmin yaAAlamoona

وہ اُن کے گھر خالی پڑے ہیں اُس ظلم کی پاداش میں جو وہ کرتے تھے، اس میں ایک نشان عبرت ہے اُن لوگوں کے لیے جو علم رکھتے ہیں

So those are their houses, desolate because of the wrong they had done. Indeed in that is a sign for people who know

Waanjayna allatheena amanoo wakanoo yattaqoona

اور بچا لیا ہم نے اُن لوگوں کو جو ایمان لائے تھے اور نافرمانی سے پرہیز کرتے تھے

And We saved those who believed and used to fear Allah

Walootan ith qala liqawmihi atatoona alfahishata waantum tubsiroona

اور لوطؑ کو ہم نے بھیجا یاد کرو وہ وقت جب اس نے اپنی قوم سے کہا "کیا تم آنکھوں دیکھتے بدکاری کرتے ہو؟

And [mention] Lot, when he said to his people, "Do you commit immorality while you are seeing

Ainnakum latatoona alrrijala shahwatan min dooni alnnisai bal antum qawmun tajhaloona

کیا تمہارا یہی چلن ہے کہ عورتوں کو چھوڑ کر مردوں کے پاس شہوت رانی کے لیے جاتے ہو؟ حقیقت یہ ہے کہ تم لوگ سخت جہالت کا کام کرتے ہو

Do you indeed approach men with desire instead of women? Rather, you are a people behaving ignorantly
